Penleigh Boyd, Robin and Patricia Boyd's son, recalls that "Robin experimented with stereoscopic photography which, when viewed through either polaroid or red/green glasses, produced a three dimensional effect. A special double lens attachment with image splitting mirror was added in front of the normal camera lens to produce a double image similar to the image seen by each left and right eye". 'Swag' nickname of Horace Samuel LONG who enlisted in the 9th Light Horse Regt No 437 on 17.9.1914 age 19 years. He transferred to the 4th L.H.Regt on 27.9.1916 and allotted No 437A. Promoted to Driver on 1.1.18, L/Cpl on 11.11.1918. During his service he was hospitalised 3 times with various illnesses. He was discharged from the AIF on 24.6.1919. There is an Alexis Harold Safstrom No 1723, 38th Batt 1st reinforcements then 59th Batt. He was WIA twice and discharged on 31.8.1919. There are two Woodheads with an initial L. This is possibly L.H.B Woodhead No 728, 8th Batt then late in the war 25th Batt. He was WIA twice coming home late 1918. The colour patch on the uniform is possibly 8th Batt. Safstrom was from Heathcote which fits in with the donor of the items Mrs May Burns. Woodhead was from Mildura. The only connection could be that they were both in England at the same time the card was written. Albert Jacka No 465 enlisted in D Coy 14th batt AIF on 18.9.14. Embarked for Eygpt 22.12.14. He rose through the ranks from Pte to Captain by 15.3.17. He was WIA 3 times and hospitalised twice with illness. Awarded the Victoria Cross at Courtney's Post 19/20th May 1915. The Military Cross at Pozieres on 7.8.16 and a Bar to the Military Cross on 10.4.17 near Queant. He was discharged from the AIF on 10.1.20. This is a very brief history of "Jacka".
