Transcript of two articles in the Ballarat Star about horse tram accidents. 1 - item dated 5/9/1894 about a runaway of two harnessed horses from the Sturt St terminus at Grenville St. One of the horses was finally stopped at the Miners' Racecourse. Demonstrates a conductors communication or signal bell made for use on tramcars. Brass Conductor Communication Bell, or signal bell, consisting of cast frame, bell, striker, bell pull part, three nuts to secure the bell to the frame and two rivets securing for the bell pull part. Has at both ends, four screw holes that were used to secure the bell to the roof. Set of six colour slides, possibly taken on Saturday 4 September 1972, prior to the closure of the Mt Pleasant line the following day. 1 - Two single truckers at Sturt and Lydiard Streets with many motor cars. Town Hall in the background. 2 - Tram 12 (Sebastopol) picking up passengers at the stop just before the tram turned the corner into Sturt St. Driver running a one-man tram. Photo of a white tram painted to celebrate 75 years of Legacy work. As well as the 75 Legacy logo, it says "Legacy - Helps the families of our departed Veterans" and "75 years on ... Legacy still caring. 1923-1998". Photos show widows boarding for a ride. The tram is possibly parked near the Shrine as it is at Stop 19 which is the usual stop on St Kilda Road for visiting the Shrine. Demonstrates how the SEC used enameled signs to convey instructions to passengers and confirm the advice of the conductor.An enamel sign with black lettering and border line on an off white background. The enameling is stained due to rust. The sign reads "To stop Car pull left hand cord ONCE". Where the enamel has been chipped, an attempt to disguise the damage has been made with paint. The reverse has been enameled in a mixture of black and white, but this shows signs of chipping and rust damage. Two holes have been drilled in the centre of the LH and RH edges to enable the sign to be attached to the tram car. The reverse shows signs that the enamel has been marked prior to firing as the sign rested on a framework which removed the enamel surface, allowing lines of rust to form.tram signs, tam car signage

Letters - Notice - printed onto yellow paper titled "Notice to Passengers", with the ATMOEA apologising to the travelling public for a current dispute - dated July 1984. Concerned with the threat to terminate the employment of the union delegates for the Melbourne - Brighton Bus Company if a stop work meeting was held. Gives the reasons behind the dispute, involvement of the Bus Proprietors' Association.
