The history of this item is unknown. It has been suggested that SBC could be the initials of a person or could stand for an organisation such as Sandridge Bowling Club which was formed a year or two before the municipality, and the club, changed its name to Port Melbourne. It may stand for Sandridge Borough Council. The glass was donated to PMHPS by David GRAHAM, the last Town Clerk of Port Melbourne. David does not know the origin of the glass other than it was kept by a succession of Town Clerks at Port Melbourne Town Hall, to his knowledge going back to the 1970s. The glass is older than that and it is tempting to think that it could be from Sandridge Borough Council and has been kept by each Town Clerk of the municipality since the 1860s, 1870s or early 1880s. The truth may never be known.Clear drinking glass with a short stem and a flute-style bowl. The initials SBC are engraved on one side of the bowl and a decorative fern is engraved on the other side.domestic life - containers -

The postcard was sent to E. Ryan, informing that he has been selected in the Essendon 18 to play the Elwood 23 the following Saturday, telling him to meet at the Bush Inn at 1.45pm and reminding him to bring his team uniform.The postcard is significant because it illustrates the formal way in which players were informed of their selection in the team. It also illustrates the difference between senior and junior teams in the VFA at the time; Essendon fielded a team of 18 players whereas Elwood was allowed a team of 23.Buff cardboard postcard with image of mauve Victoria 1d stamp in top right corner, "postcard" in banner in top centre of card and decorative mauve border.Postcard is addressed to "Mr E. This gold-plated prefect's badge is an excellent example of its era. It is interesting that the school does not list a prefect in 1971 with the name 'Pitcher'. There is no student with the surname Pitcher registered as attending the school in 1971. The school also holds a 1972 Prefect's badge (VC oooo14) for this student. Rare itemGold-plated prefect's badge featuring oval school emblem (Gold Minerva head on black background surrounded by gold motto on red) and decorative gold pattern on black border. Further border of decorative gold scroll work. Engraved with 'Prefect' in black across top of badge and '1971' at bottom of badge. There is a single pin attached to the rear of the badge and the name 'Pitcher' is engraved on the pin base. Engraved around top of badge front: 'PREFECT'; and around base of front: '1971'.
