The Australian Woman's Mirror, was an Australian weekly women's magazine published by The Bulletin magazine in Sydney, between 1924 and 1961.Women's magazines reflect class and family structures as well as contemporary women’s role in society. A 32 pp magazine, titled The Australian Woman's Mirror. The magazine's contents include recipes, knitting patterns and articles about fashion, holiday destinations and household tips.It also contains short stories, poems, and a serialised novel. On the front cover is a b/w photograph of a woman wearing a knitted jerkin indicating that the pattern is inside the magazine. Donated by the Harry Cameron family, Harry's father, James Cameron, came to Bellagoogan on Majors Creek in 1882. Bellagoogan was on Majors Creek near Orbost and was the site of the first race course. Like many other at the time, the Camerons bred race horses.Harry died in 1964 aged 75.Hand saw with a skew-back, steel blade and a wooden handle. It has three metal saw pins and a medallion marked 'warranted superior'. There is a chip carved wheat sheaf decorating the front hand grip. These plates were pressed to commemorate the centenary of the European settlement of Australia. A large number were produced and the were distributed throughout AustraliaThese plates are a good example of souvenirs which were produced to commemorate the celebrations of the centenary of European settlement of Australia. The pressed glass was a common method of manufacturing around that period and of which they are an excellent example.001423.1 Large rounded amber glass dish with scalloped edge and seven fine rings below. Text is stippled glass on the back which appears through to the inside of the dish.An early version of Australian Coat of Arms is in the centre with the centenary years inside shields, either side. 001423.2 A smaller version of 001423.1 001423.3 Small clear glass saucer shaped dish with same design as the larger dishes. 001423.4 Small amber coloured shallow dish with small glass handle on each side. Pattern matching the larger plates is embossed on underside of the dish. Book prize awarded to J J Chalmers for excellence in English, Geography and History. Awarded during R O McCoy's principalship 1864 - 1874. J Chalmers was Dux of College in 1870 but this prize was awarded in 1871 suggesting that he completed an extra year while awaiting university entrance. Social significance being one example of the prizes provided by R O McCoy as his own gift. From 1969 these prizes were obtained through special order in London and were uniformly bound in full calf with the College seal and motto embossed on the cover. This book was awarded to May Adelaide Anstis in 1897 for first prize in Arithmetic. May entered Clarendon Ladies' College in 1891. On the original register father's name is listed as William and the residence as Neil St, Ballarat.Presbyterian educators placed great value on a classical education matched with diligence in study. Book prizes were highly regarded and academic success admired. In the school’s early years prizes were ordered direct from London and had the school crest embossed in gold on the front or back cover. Many of the prizes given in early years were returned to the school to equip the Weatherly Library when it opened in 1936.Bound in soft brown calf with gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Floral end papers with slight foxing on pages. The Ballarat Junior Technical School (BJTS) was the junior division of the Ballarat School of Mines.The honor board was unveiled on 17 June 1922 by Sir Alexander Peacock, the Minister for Public Instruction. it was witnessed by a large gathering of parents, friends, students, past student, Albert Steane (Headmaster) and the president, Council and Staff of the Ballarat School of Mines. At the conclusion of the ceremony the junior Technical School was opened for public inspection and afternoon tea was provided by a ladies committee. The Honour Board contains 28 names and of these only one lost his life on active service. this was Francis G. Davis. After the unveiling his father, A. Davis, planted a tree in the grounds of the Junior Technical School in memory of his deceased son. The following names are on the Honour Board Adair, S.H.
