Bryant's best wishes for your birthday 1905'. Also on this page (handwritten) and Title Page: Mr H Lofts 16 Tait St Footscray W11. Also (attached to back of front cover) an envelope inscribed 'For Gentlemen Only - Ladies are particularly requested not to look' (card inside!!). Attached to frontispiece (glued) is Hotel Shamrock letter-headed sheet with signatures of Ada Crossley Muecke and Francis F. Muecke. Clothing - MEN'S BLACK DINNER JACKET, 1921
Men's black woollen dinner jacket with black polished cotton lapels. Single breasted fastened with one X 2cm black fabric covered button, with another button attached to the back. Body of jacket lined with black self stripe cotton fabric. Long sleeves lined with cream coloured polished cotton fabric with fine black stripes. Front pockets below waist have slit openings lined with black cotton fabric. Slits at wrists of sleeves (5cm) fastened with 1 X 1cm black fabric covered buttons. Found inside pocket, cotton button hole tab two black fabric covered 2 cm buttons. Hanging tape across inside back of neck (11cm X .7cm) cotton tape. Owner; Samuel John Tongway 1894-1988. Clothing - AILEEN AND JOHN ELLISON COLLECTION: PEARL BEADED CLUTCH BAG, 1949
Clothing. All-over beading means that this is quite a heavy little bag. Rectangular in shape with rounded corners on the bottom, and diagonally cut at the top corners, the bag has a zipper closure, a small 5 cm long beaded loop attaches to the zipper for ease of opening and closing. Lined with cream satin, there is an 11 cm long pocket in one side, containing a small mirror (7.5 x 5 cms). A small piece of confetti may indicate that this bag was used at Aileen and John's marriage. Document - LANSELL'S BIG 180 MINE - ROBBERY AT THE 180 MINE
Handwritten notes on a gold robbery at the 180 Mine. One man was arrested and two escaped. The engine driver was also arrested as an accessory to the crime. The underground manager, Mr John Baxter decided to set a watch and the men were caught red-handed. The Det-Sgt was reduced in rank and transferred to Melbourne. He knew the men would be coming up at a certain time. Document - CERTIFICATE TO FLETCHER FAMILY - JOHN FLETCHER, 1903
John Fletcher (1857-19/10/1903) was a shift boss at the Hustler's Mine. Formerly from Sebastian, he came to Bendigo in 1899. He married Eliz. Hinchcliff in 1881 and they lived in Job's Gully. He was a member of the Bendigo Miner's Association and often subscribed to the Bendigo Independent newspaper, which sent Mrs Fletcher a gift of 25 pounds in appreciation. He was killed in a mining accident at Hustler's Mine.Paper certificate mounted on card presented to Mrs Fletcher and family from Hustlers No. 1 mine, upon the death of John Fletcher in a mine accident.
