These are two vintage small cups, probably dating from early in the 20th century. They may have originally had saucers to match. Both cups have different inscriptions, and were likely given as a present to indicate friendship or love and other examples of the same type of cup have similar inscriptions such as 'Remember me' and 'Forget-Me-Not'. In the 1960's, the RVIB approached engineer George Glover to produce equipment to allow blind people to shoot, based upon that made available at St Dunstan's Hospital in the UK. The rifle range opened in February 1966 at the rear of St Kilda Road with 30 members, and soon became involved in matches with sighted rifle clubs in the area. Donated by Barbara GARDINER, daughter of William HEGARTY, centre. This strong team, founded before WWI, later served as PMFC seconds and provided many top players to PMFC. By 1925 Railway United were effectively the PMFC Seconds and were referred to in the media as Port Melbourne Junior Football Club although the Railway United name remained in use locally for many years. The Victorian Junior Football Association (VJFA) had been split into two sections. Section B consisted of teams associated with senior clubs playing in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) with unaligned teams making up Section A. Finals were played between the top teams in each section and then the two winners (premiers) played off in a final match to determine which club won the John Wren Shield as premier of the VJFA. 1925: Port Melbourne 12.11.83 def Williamstown 6.12.48 at Yarraville on 5 Sep 1925 to claim the B Section premiership. On 31 July 1948 a football match was played at the South Melbourne Cricket Ground between sides from Victoria and South Australia. The event was organized by the RSL Victorian Branch. The RSL Victorian Branch Football Association was originally formed in 1947 and was affiliated with the Victorian Football Union. The purpose of the Football Association was to provide organized football for Returned Servicemen. The first cricket club in Kew in was formed in 1863, and played its matches in Wellington Street, and then later in O’Shaughnessy’s Paddock. In the early 1870s, a second club was formed and played at Victoria Park. The Kew Cricket Club gained its permanent name in 1888-89. One of the named players in the photograph - Albert Watson - was the son of the local Methodist Minister. The photograph entered the collection within a donation of items by Mrs Joy Ivory, a descendant of the Watson family, and a member of the Society.The photograph, dating from 1911 has local significance as an image of participation in sport and recreation.A monochrome photograph, mounted on card of the Kew Cricket Club's first XI cricket team in 1911.
