This photograph was taken during one of a series of workshops that were hosted by the Wooragee Landcare Group in the year 2004. In line with the main goals and missions of the Wooragee Landcare Group, these workshops aimed to promote biodiversity and land protection in the local area. Many of these workshops focused on either the protection of the endangered tiger quoll (spotted-tailed quoll) or the handling of fox infestations. Though the specific date of this photograph is unknown, it can be confirmed that it was taken outside of Wooragee Hall. Featured in the photograph, from left to right is: an unknown person, Jerry Alexander, Tony Prowse and Mary Prowse. The presence of wildlife ecologist Jerry Alexander suggests that this workshop focused on the tiger quoll, with possible exploration of its potential habitats (suggestive due to the outdoor location). The Tiger Quoll is the largest of the quoll species. Largely resembling a cross between a possum and a cat, the quoll is distinctive due to the white spots that are often found all over its brown fur.This photograph is significant as it provides evidence of a project undertaken by the Wooragee Landcare Group to educate members of the public on the tiger quoll in the early 2000s in an attempt to better understand and protect the species. Set of two brass manufacturing / data plates from the BTM Isolating transformer that failed Oct. 2004 and sent to ABB's Yarraville Workshop for assessment. Recovered from the transformer by ABB staff following inspection. Plates detail Manufacturer (State Electricity Commission of Victoria), ratings, connection diagrams, windings and date of manufacture (1931). These plates did not reflect the re-winding characteristics, but its original manufacturer. Transformer No. 1267. Each plate has four corner holes. The pump was restored by Alan Mitchell who was an employee of Zerbe Engineering, Ashburn Place, Blackburn. The work was carried out by Alan in their workshop.The pump was patented by Joseph W. Douglas, Middletown Conn. and the patent was assigned to W & B Douglas.A reconstructed well of red bricks. Circular, dome shaped, it has a grill on the flat top of the dome on which the force pump is situated next to the grill. It circulates the water which is held in a tank beneath the brick structure. The force pump is hand operated with a replacement handle made c1965 by Alan Mitchell who restored and donated the pump. Two photos of Legacy Widows Club gathering at Legacy House for craft group in 1987. It shows one of many activities that the widows were involved in. For many years there were workshops for craft and others for painting. The timetable for activities was published in The Answer (prior to Sept 1992 it was called the Melbourne Legacy Widows' Newsletter) each month. Made by Duncan and Fraser for fitting to horse-drawn tramcars and possibly other products of their Adelaide workshops. See 565 and 8744 for other examples.Demonstrates Duncan and Fraser's workshop practice of putting their name on some fittings.Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide SA window lifter or bracket to enable a horse tram window to be lifted in the window frame. Cast brass, about 40mm in diameter with a right angle lug to enable a person to lift the window. Words "Duncan & Fraser" cast around the outside of the device and the words "Adelaide S.A." cast into the centre. Has been drilled with three countersunk holes. Has brown paint on the lifting portion. On the rear, possibly the letters "5L", scratched into the metal. If this is the case, could have indicated the fifth left hand window as an identification of location. Erection of staff quarters at Pretty Valley was completed in April, 1947 and accommodation for construction workers commenced in 1948 but suspended on 11th May for winter and resumed on 9th November. Construction of this camp was completed in 1949. A large dam was proposed at this site but was never constructed. Instead a small diversion dam was built which diverts water either to Rocky Valley Dam or to McKay Creek Power Station.An historical record of the type of accommodation provided for workmen during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Scheme during the 1940's/50's.A black and white photograph of Pretty Valley Camp, c 1949.
