Bounds standing alongside No. 27, which was operated as a Museum display. .2 - Just the tram itself - was pushed out of the shed by hand. .3 - A general scene with visitors and workers. .4 - pushing the tram back in again at the end of the day. Sixteen page book with brown paper covers in addition. Pages printed on art paper with a red overprint on some pages. Titled "Nachod Signals", published by the Nachod and United States Signal Co. Inc, successors to Nachod Signal Co of Louisville Kentucky. Has a list of dates on page 2, of patents, the last being 5/2/1918. Has on the bottom of most pages "Nachod Spells Safety" Details the Nachod signals system, type CD with the details of the operation, elements of the system, signal layout, installation and wiring, trolley Contactors, signal aspects, relays, assembly on poles, ordering information, fuses, special designs and modifications, information in ordering, quantity and list of material, and specification details of the Type P on the last three pages. Sign, A. Simpson and Son Limited Enamellers of Pirie St Adelaide, "NOTICE" - Conductors Duty, 1950's
Demonstrates how the SEC used enamel signs to convey instructions to passengers or to confirm the advice of the conductor and how enamel signs were made.Enamel sign, black capital letters and lines on white background, with words in lower case "NOTICE It is the Conductor's duty to issues a Check for every fare received. This Check denotes the destination to which the Passenger is entitled to travel, and must produced on demand, or another fare paid.". Sign has a black enamel backing, with marks from the enamelling process and holes in each corner. The words "NOTICE" and "produced on" and "another fare" have been chipped off. On rear is a manufacturer's notice (A. Simpson and Son Limited Enamellers of Pirie St Adelaide) regarding fixing the sign and possible damage to surface. Yields information about the drawings that were used by the depot or workshop staff as reference drawings. Has a strong association with the depot workshop staff. Yields information about equipment on Ballarat tramcars and Signalling.Folder containing 46 blueprints or Dyeline prints of SEC tram equipment drawings. Front of folder made from a cloth back sheet of paper extended to secure to a thick cardboard runner. Rear of folder made from an old tram advertising panel or cardboard sheet, cut to size and secured to a thick cardboard runner with a cloth backing on both sides. Sheets secured with three brass screwed clips. Front cover damaged in bottom right hand corner. Rear cover breaking apart on outside around cloth binding.
