The photo is of Sturt St showing Town Hall Ballarat Vic, looking east towards Grenville St from Doveton St. An ESCo tram is in the far distance, possibly with a Vote No sign along with a few early motor cars. In the view are Stansfield and Smith, F. Gallagher, Morseheads, Myer, The Bucks Head Hotel, and a sign for Rolfes. Note - very similar in location to item 8242, an earlier Rose Series photo with the same number 1712. Set of 16 mixed SEC tickets found in Ballarat No. 18, behind the north side sandboxes No. 2 end 6/12/1997. Tickets have been used and have varying degrees of dirt. The image file shows the nature of the damage. Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. All SEC penny or pre decimal tickets with one SEC decimal issue. All on white paper unless otherwise noted. Denmead to a Civic function to mark the occasion of the closure of the Ballarat Tramways on 20/9/1971. Printed onto quarto duplicator paper, with the name of the invitee written in using black ink. Has the City Crest, address, telephone number. Letter gives the details of the function, the occasion and that the newly appointed Chairman of the SEC, Mr. N. R. Certificate - Certificate - copy, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Jun. 1968
Carbon copy of a certificate or a notice of the event of SEC Ballarat No. 27 reaching a million miles in service in Ballarat at 3.10pm on 29 June 1968. Gives details of the tram history and signed by Mr. L. J. Denmead, Departmental Tramways Supt., Mr. F. K. White, Branch Manager and Mr. A. N. Smith, Engineer and Manager. Typed on copy paper with a faint watermark "EURNT BANR MADE IN AUST". Was attached on donation to item 1850, with a pin in top left hand corner. Separated for storage. See image file for arrangement on donation. Note: Later review by D. Macartney in early 80's? found that the SEC had miscalculated the distance travelled by 100,000 miles. Photographic illustration of South Australian Railways Locomotive No. 620, the has been printed onto card and then cut out in the form of outline of the locomotive. Printed in green ink and then over printed in a silver ink to highlight the locomotive. On the rear of the illustration has been printed details of the locomotive (Light Pacific Engine), designed and built at SAR's Islington Workshops. Gives details of the locomotive, SAR's service. Notes that SAR has given 80 years of service. Printed by the Government Printer Adelaide. Reference -"Kings of the Iron Horse" by David Burke, page 164 -5 - gives details of the launch of the locomotive, 'Sir Winston Dugan', then Governor of South Australia. Photo of the launch and locomotive on opposite page 196. Would probably have been made for the launch of locomotive or soon after. Colour photograph of TMSV tour photo for the 60th anniversary of electric trams in Ballarat in August 1965. Photo of Ballarat No. 18 photographed alongside MMTB AEC Regal Mk III bus, No. 543 (42 seats) (Reg. No. HJG 543). No. 18 has a specially painted board over the front of the tram "60th Anniversary / Electric Trams / 1905 Ballarat 1965". Standing between the tram and Bus are Les Denmead, D. Irvine, J. Dowd and T. Young. Both vehicles showing "Special" and standing on Ballarat depot fan. Photo also appears in "MMTB News", Oct - Nov. 1965, Reg. Item 2719.7. Dave Macartney advised 19/11/01 that other the other official guests at the event was Mr. F. K. White, Manager Ballarat SEC. Also attending was W.J. K. Dunstan. Photographed outside the Wendouree Parade depot, late 1887, with 16 workmen standing or lying around the tramcar. Builders Photo. Tram is lettered "BALLAARAT TRAMWAY CO LIMITED". A sign on the advertising board says "Duncan & Fraser, Builders, Ballaarat". The men around the tram are dressed in trade clothes, with aprons, including carpenters, painters and blacksmiths.
