Text, RVIB Drouin Auxiliary, 1931 - [1996?]
The Drouin RVIB Auxiliary formed on February 19, 1931. This small collection contains index cards which were maintained by RVIB and contain the amount of donations made by the Auxiliary between 1976-1995, as well as the presentations delivered by RVIB employees to Auxiliary meetings between 1978-1985. Correspondence to and from RVIB head office ranging between 1997 -2002. Letter outlining a brief history of the auxiliary including it had a break during the Second World War and it disbanded in 1994, however a small group of friends decided to continue as 'Friends of RVIB' meeting monthly and gave small donations periodically to RVIB. When Australia joined World War I men were encouraged to enlist to help Australia aid their 'mother country' Britain in the war against Germany. Many men volunteered often joining at the same time as their friends from the same district, all over Australia.Bert Roper and Stewart Hollonds came from families living in the Kiewa Valley. In the early days of the establishing the new secondary campus many of the school signs were handmade, often by staff member Frank Scambler, but also by dedicated parents and friends of the school. This sign is representative of the 'handmade' nature of school signage during the early establishment of the Westbourne Truganina campus.Glass panel with the front painted with blue background and "WESTBOURNE" hand painted in yellow. A thin gold film has been adhered to the top and bottom edges. This album is made of strong cardboard now held together by ribbon and it contains 17 images taken around Belgrave in the early 1920s. The photographer is unknown but it could have been Charles Ladd, engraver, farmer, and amateur photographer, who lived with his family in Dewhurst. The photos are of local beauty spots in the Sherbrooke Forest, Lipscombe's Hill, Biffin's Hill and Selby trestle bridge areas. Paperback with red cover inscribed with the title. Inside a preface including acknowledgements by the President of the Auxiliary. Printed recipes with some annotations by the owner. Text typed onto stencils then printed and assembled by members of the Auxiliary. The 1st Kew Scouts was one of the first Scout Troops in Victoria, being formed in 1909. From 1927 they met in a Scout Hall in Disraeli Street, Kew until it was demolished in 1993. Still operating from their new Scout Hall on the corner of Kilby Road and Kellett Grove, Kew.Small, self-published, paperback recipe book published by the Ladies' Auxiliary of the 1st Kew Scout Group. The book of recipes was compiled in 1967 from a selection of favourite recipes submitted by the Ladies' Auxiliary and their friends. A preface, written by the President of the Auxiliary, Margaret Jones, acknowledges the role of Miss Bet. De Hays who typed the stencils as well as assisting in the booklet's preparation.
