Souvenir, Model of Japanese Midget Submarine, 1942
Produced as a souvenir from the ballast of two Japanese Midget submarines sunk during attacks on Sydney Harbour in WWII. This souvenir was produced to raise funds for the RAN relief fund and King George's Fund For Sailors. It was sold as a souvenir as part of a touring exhibition around the country accompanying a composite midget submarine constructed of the two sunken vessels raised from Sydney Harbour.The souvenir submarine has tangible connections to the Japanese Midget Submarines sunk during attacks on Sydney Harbour in 1942. Fundraising badge sold by the Commonwealth Button Fund to raise funds for the victims of the Armenian massacres in the Ottoman Empire during the war. The button was designed by Frances Woolcot, the Honourary Organiser of the Melbourne Branch of the Commonwealth Button Fund. The design was approved in November 1917 and the buttons were sold on 30 February 1918 - £7,300 was raised on the day. The widows have sorted used stamps and sold to a stamp dealer for many years to the present day. It raises some funds and provides a purpose for gathering together. Rutherglen had a regular event called Back to Rutherglen where by a committee was formed to organise Sporting events usually during Easter. The purpose was a means of raising money for various projects in the town, such as building the Soldiers Memorial Hall and in later years a Queen Competition was held to raise funds towards building the Swimming Pool. Ambulance body was made and fitted in Latrobe Street, Melbourne. When completed it went to Central Ambulance service in Sydney. It was later restored by Graham Tibbett and was later purchased by the Ambulance Historical Society of Victoria in 2010. This vehicle is believed to be the only one of its kind left in the world. Map, Lerderderg District Proposed Irrigation and Water Supply Trust (B) Plan Showing Proposed Works
The 1886 Irrigation Act in Victoria introduced the first legislation in Australia designed to enable the creation of a detailed scheme for agricultural irrigation. Part of the legislation saw the use of government funds for local irrigation projects. These local projects were managed by local irrigation trusts. The Lerderderg Irrigation and Water Supply Trust was formed in 1890. This map depicts the proposed area of the Trust and proposed works such as channels and weirs.Printed paper map of the proposed Lerderderg District Irrigation and Water Supply area showing proposed works. Also a photo of a girl in a motorised wheel chair selling the Christmas cards and Legacy puddings in a street. Photos were taken by Susie Howard who was publicity officer for Legacy at the time. Australian Comforts 'Fund Badge. 8 x Badges White cotton material with red machine cotton . At the top is Victorian Division, under that circled around a red star with A.C.F. in the middle is Australian comforts'' Fund. At the bottom is Golden Square. The fund was established to coordinate the activities of the state based patriotic funds, mainly run by women. Letter - Statement regarding location of the old ferry call bell
When a ferry was the only way to cross the river, a bell was rung to call the ferryman. this letter explains that the bell was sold to raise funds for construction of the bridge. Mr W. B Cumming bought the bell and passed it to Mrs T. McKenzie. this statement was written and signed by Mrs W.B.Cumming and further states the expectation that a tower and belfry would be constructed, along with a plaque memorialising church members and Mr W.B Cumming.Significant because it specifies what happened to the Ferry call bell, which was very important when the ferry was the only way to cross the river.
