Set of two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 19/8/1971; two letters to the Editor, about the closure of the Ballarat tramways, that some of the trams and line should be saved and what the aims of the BTPS are. The first from a person titled "All Het Up", and the second from John Anderson of P.O. Box 145 Box Hill. The second clipping from The Sun, Melbourne dated 14/7/1971 written by Keith Dunstan in his column, "A Place in the Sun" about the forthcoming closure of the Ballarat and Bendigo systems. Has a photo of a Bendigo Birney tram and notes their rarity. The second part is about the formation of the BTPS, which has 100 paid up members and quotes Shane McCarthy, a committeeman. Photo 1 - 260mm long x 122mm high, photo of north east Ballarat from Town Hall, looking out to Black Hill. Photo similar to Reg. No. 102, but buildings on corner of Grenville and Bridge St has a Plume sign instead of a Mobilgas Ad. This indicates early to mid 1950's. One tram in loop in one in Bridge St. Also has a "Neptune" sign in photograph. Photo 2 - 195mm long x 75mm high - from north east corner of Sturt and Lydiard Sts looking towards Town Hall and Craig's Hotel. Photo includes SEC bogie at tram stop and the front end of bus travelling east in Sturt St. Photo 3 - 230mm long x 156mm high - colour printed photo of Pall Mall, Bendigo from west side (by Post Office), looking towards the Shamrock Hotel. Also gives charges for Scholar's Monthly tickets, Luggage, Parcels, Newspapers and Chartered trams. Originally dated August 1965, amended August 1966. Note only shows decimal currency. Gives details of the definitions, fares and charges, sale of tickets, regulating number of passengers, stopping places, nuisances, smoking, dangerous goods, luggage and goods, general matters and fares broken into adult fares for each section and Children's fares and Pensioners' Concession fares for both Ballarat and Bendigo. Note - introduced decimal currency into the fares as well as pence. Document number on front cover "TYE 1-270". This by-law replaced or revoked all previous by-laws and amendments. Came in effect 1/10/1965 with a fare rise. Received Governor In Council approval on 24/8/1965. These fares have been amended in pencil for Ballarat. The amendment pasted into the rear of the booklet is dated 2nd August. 1966 and came into effect on 1/9/1966. 1297.1 - ditto, but actual used copy by D. J. Everett - see Reg. Item 2292 for details of SEC Ballarat Employee. On page one or title sheet, has an additional amendment pasted in - dated 14/1/1969 giving details of fare increases in Ballarat and Bendigo to come into effect 14/1/1969. Two part printed ticket, using sepia ink on white paper with a gummed back, stapled with a single staple at the top onto a cardboard sheet. Ticket Nos. A007001 to A007025 The ticket butt or top portion has the form number "TYE 3-590". The second or middle portion was to be affixed to the parcel to be carried. It has the name of the organisation (SECV), "Parcel Ticket 13c", conditions of carriage and ticket number, prefixed with the letter A. The lower portion was retained by the sender, was to be initialled by the conductor, organisation name, "Parcel Ticket 13c", conditions of use, ticket number and a space where to be initialled by the conductor. The 1969 Schedule of Fares and Charges gives the conditions of the use of these tickets. See Reg. Item No. 704. 1727.1 - As above, Ticket Nos. A007405 to A 007405. Provides the law and licencing provisions relating to the use of buses, omnibuses in Victoria, including Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. See also Reg. Item No. 1976 for the regulations regarding this Act. 2260.2 - 8 page document, Victorian Act No. 3851, titled "Motor Omnibus Act 1929". Printed on white paper, saddle stapled, dated 30/12/1929. Provides amendments to the 1928 Act in particular for light motor omnibuses or motor cars. Murdoch, General Manager of the TB Melbourne regarding the controversy with the SEC regarding the possible takeover by the SEC of the Ballarat and Bendigo power supplies and the trams. 1973.1 - Letter from ESCo to TB dated 19/7/1927 and received by TB 21/7/1927 forwarding some cuttings regarding the matter (see Reg. Item 1973.3 and 1974.). Editorial address various issues of the problem - SEC takeover of the company, Council's power to franchise, dividends going overseas, loss of income to Council. Newspaper was seeking an independent report to Council. 303h x 206W 1974.4 - Courier 19/7/1927 - report of City of Ballaarat Council's 1927 consideration of the SEC's offer to takeover ESCo the previous night. Very detailed report of the discussions.
