Document - MTT Petition to Victorian Parliament, Melbourne Tramways Trust (MTT), August 1905
Details a Petition to the Parliament of Victoria, Legislative Council from the Melbourne Tramways Trust, the owners of the cable tram infrastructure. The Municipalities that formed the Trust were concerned that the construction of electric tramways within their Municipalities would be in contrary to the Act that set up the cable trams and reduced revenue received from the cable tram operator, the MTOCo. They sought that Parliament would not sanction such tramways without the consent of the Trust's municipalities or members. Yields information about the concerns of the MTT about new electric tramways in 1905.Folded double foolscap sheet and then folded into four for presentation to the Victorian Parliament by the Melbourne Tramways Trust dated 16-8-1905. Report - 3 foolscap duplicated sheets, titled "Amendments of the MMTB Act 1918 (No. 2995) suggested by the MMTB". Suggests changes such as a fire and public risk insurance fund, payment of gratuities in event of accidents to employees or the public, payment to a Mutual benefit or sick fund for its employees, make donations to hospitals etc, a "welfare movement" fund, construct five tramways, road maintenance, change section 37 and change Board attendance fees. Document undated. Set of eight Black and White photographs of the major repairs to the roof of Z8 - c1980? done at Preston Workshops. .1 - the new section being craned into position - has a W class car in the background. .2 - internal view showing a support structure. .3 - external view with the support structure - possibly before the section of roof was removed. .4 - view of the inner roof? wit siring in position. .5 - ditto .6 - internal view of the roof section being removed or installed - shows the insulation. .7 - external view showing roof support structure in place ,8 - showing what appears to be the original roof being removed. Photograph most likely taken at the same time as the new panel was implemented - see Reg item 4514 - late 1964. Shows the panel and its set up, maps on the wall and other equipment and a table in front of the operators table or position.
