This work forms part of the collection assembled by the historian Dorothy Rogers, that was donated to the Kew Historical Society by her son John Rogers in 2015. The manuscripts, photographs, maps, and documents were sourced by her from both family and local collections or produced as references for her print publications. Many were directly used by Rogers in writing ‘Lovely Old Homes of Kew’ (1961) and 'A History of Kew' (1973), or the numerous articles on local history that she produced for suburban newspapers. Most of the photographs in the collection include detailed annotations in her hand. The Rogers Collection provides a comprehensive insight into the working habits of a historian in the 1960s and 1970s. Gwen Barton McWilliam (nee: Nelson), OAM, BA (1933- ). Gwen McWilliam is well known as an authority on the history of Boroondara and the author of a large number of books and pamphlets about the City. She was awarded the medal of the Order of Australia in 2001 ‘for service to the community of Hawthorn and district, particularly through the research, documentation and publication of its history.’ Digitally annotated part plan of the City of Boroondara, created by Council (Library?) staff, based on annotated plans provided by the historian Gwen McWilliam, identifying significant landholdings, subdivisions and key dates. On the plan Gwen McWilliam noted that the attempt to copy her annotations had resulted in incorrect data being included, so the plans were never published. William Derrick was an early landowner in Kew, and with James Venn Morgan and James Dannock the purchaser of the parcel of land bounded by Cotham Road, High Street and Mary Street. The Kew Library was run by the City of Kew until it was amalgamated into the Boroondara Library Service, when Kew became part of the City of Boroondara in 1994.Boroondara Library Service green woollen long sleeve jumper with the logo of the City embroidered in acqua thread. A temple tomb in the form of a Greek temple with a triangular pediment. Dark pillars on a flat, paved base support the plinth of the memorial. The memorial is situated on lawn, surrounded by trees and shrubs. Between the pillars, a glass enclosure can be clearly seen. The enclosure was removed at a later date. Harold Desbrowe-Annear designed the Springthorpe Memorial, while Bertram Mackennal sculpted the statuary on the sarcophagus. The Kew Historical Society's postcard collection includes views of Kew, Melbourne and Greater Melbourne as well as those including overseas scenes sent or received from Europe or the Middle East. They date from the 1890s to the 2000s. These postcards may or may not include the name of the publisher or printer. A number of the cards were published as parts of popular series. A way of dating early postcards is to identify whether the reverse was divided by a central line which became the norm after 1902 in the United Kingdom. However, other postcards produced after this date do not always conform to this print layout.The item forms part of the Laurie Bennett collection of thirty-six postcards and photographs of Kew and early Melbourne, donated to the Kew Historical Society in 1980. Newspaper clippings from Boroondara Review Local 16/1/2013 and taped to another cutting dated 23-1-2013, about the name of the North Balwyn route 48. Has a photo of Ern Wass standing in front of A1 267. Ern was complaining about the name arrangement when the formal name is "Balwyn North" and other suburbs which don't match the formal name.
