Research Report titled - "Melbourne electric Tramways - Gunzel Notes - a timeline of the Melbourne Electric Tramways", 94 A4 unbound pages, secured by a fold back clip. Gives a summary of the periods between 1884 and 1904, 1904 to 1920, 1920 to 1983, 1983 to 1997. Has appendences for route numbers, tram allocation, depot lists, trams sold to Ballarat, Bendigo or Geelong and Preserved track. Index note an appendix for track maps but not within document. Series of colour maps for various tram and bus routes, dated 1979. Also contained, not scanned are letters, reports, and specifications for printing these maps for use in shelters etc. Some have the Transport Information Centre telephone printed on them. Some are finished with a plastic laminate finish on either one or both sides. Show the major cross streets, parks, schools, other tram routes, major stop numbers, and railway lines. Report - foolscap size, 100 pages, bound with staples along left hand edge and glued into a printed colour cover titled "Annual Report 1948-49 - Victorian Railways". Details the results of the Victorian Railways operations for each station, division, traffic and written information including an investigation by Mr John Elliot of the Southern Region of British Railways into the organisation of Transport in Victoria. Photograph shows a female journalist with notebook in hand being shown the controls by a uniformed tramway employee at a depot yard, most likely Hawthorn depot. Photo undated and no details of the paper and it is post trove scanning at the time of cataloguing. The cutting notes that it appears much simpler than driving a car. Note the table card in the employee's pocket. The journalist is probably from the women's pages of one of the metropolitan newspapers. Her coat would have been very expensive and definitely extremely fashionable - which is why it is thought she was from the women's pages of one of the major papers. The coat appears to be real ocelot fur dating it to about 1963.
