This is an army officer’s hat from the Australian Army. It dates back to the 1940s before the word ‘Commonwealth’ was deleted in 1949 from the name of the military forces. The Australian Army has used the rising sun emblem in its official insignia since the early 1900s. The owner of this hat is not known. This hat has no known local provenance but is retained for display purposes.This is a khaki hat with an oval padded crown and a rounded peak. The top has four metal eyeleted air holes. The badge on the hat has the Rising Sun emblem. There is a brown leather strap round the brim attached by metal buttons. The inside of the hat has a blue cloth lining with a square of cellophane. Else Oertel and her daughter Else-Lore were interned in Camp 3A from 1940. Her husband was not interned as he was on a business trip to Germany when war broke out. The doll, named Karl by Else-Lore, was hand-carved by internee Alfons Koenig. Friedel Dehnel "Tante Fiffi" made the authentic Bavarian clothes. Friedel, wife of Walter Dehnel, arrived as a young woman from Austria, working in the Victorian snowfields as a chef and was a champion skier. She then became a dressmaker for Melbourne society and insisted that she be interned to be with her husband. She made costumes for the internment camp plays and took over her husband's duties as a cook for Camp A when he was locked up for "insubordination". She was deported with her husband back to Germany after the war and cared for her orphaned nephews and nieces in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Body, head, arms and legs carved from wood. The organization now known as the Country Fire Authority was established in 1945 as a volunteer and community-based organization providing fire fighting and emergency services in regional and rural areas in Victoria. United States Army standard issue infantry heavyweight webbing waist belt as worn in World War 1. This is an example of a 'trophy' belt, complete with a souvenir collection of metal insignia, badges and buttons which are attached to the belt. The belt has brass fittings however the original buckle is missing. There are a total of 83 various allied military insignia, badges and uniform buttons from the World War 1 era, 56 metal insignia and badges and 27 metal buttons which are mostly of Australian, New Zealand, Canadian or British origin. Belt manufactured by M W & S Limited of England in 1915.The reverse side of the belt is stamped "M W & S LTD., 1915" and has an "L" stamp and the Defence Department "/|\". The belt reverse also has the following name in black handwriting "A Paxino 9781 2211". Note A Paxino was associated with Frankston RSL Sub Branch for many years.

This camera is a Premo model made early in the 20th century by the Eastman Kodak company of U.S.A. Premo model cameras were produced in three sizes. Box cameras such as this were produced up to the mid 1920s and were popular with amateur photographers because of the simplicity of the mechanism. This camera has no known local provenance but is retained for display purposes.This is a rectangular-shaped wooden box covered with a black leather trim. On one side is a leather handle attached by two metal buttons. The lid was originally opened by two metal clips at one end and two metal hinges at the other but most of these attachments are now missing. Recessed into the lid are two compartments for storing the film plates. Inside the lid is a glass plate covering the storage area and a spring-loaded lens mechanism with a glass lens and a pleated cloth attached to this lens. The Civil Air Patrol is the official USAF auxiliary. Formed during WW 2, it is currently tasked with search and rescue, communications, civil defense and aerospace education (via the CAP Cadet program) The Civil Air Patrol, while formed in WW2, became the auxiliary of the USAF when the air force was formed as a separate service in 1947.
