The photograph is of the centre of Greensborough in 1970, prior to the Greensborough Plaza being built. The Partington farm house, named 'Alwyn' (after Alan and Wyn Partington) can be seen north of the Railway Line. Alan and Wyn had to leave this farm in 1976 - moving to a new house - built by son Gary - at 54 Manatunga Circuit - to make way for the creation of Whatmough Park and development of the Hailes Street-The Circuit-Greensborough Plaza precinct.This is an important visual record of Greensborough before the redevelopment of the late 1970's. Jessie Partington was born at Willis Vale in 1911 and worked around the farm. Jessie married Gordon Scholes in 1935, and they lived in Carnon Street Greenhills. After Gordon’s death in 1965, she married Stan Angus (1967) in the Methodist Church Greensborough. Sarah Price was the mother of Mary Partington. After Mary's death in 1900, Sarah came to Willis Vale to help with Mary and Will's small daughter Eva. Sarah stayed at Willis Vale until her death on 29/9/1927. Will married Annie Medhurst, who had four children. Partington's Flat Greensborough was created in the 1950s when Heidelberg Council bought 12 acres from the Partington family to make the park. Fruit trees can be seen in this photograph. Gary Partington (on 2/2/2017) was hazy on the precise locale of the photo. On November 7, 2015 a small park in Greensborough (previously known as McKenzie Court Park, corner Plenty Lane and McKenzie Court) was renamed as Barclay Park after a local family. henry and Dorothy Barclay farmed Grace Park from 1938. Members of the family were present at the ceremony conducted by Banyule Mayor Craig Langdon assisted by Ward Councillor Mark di Pasquale.
