There are brief summaries from the many speakers ...Contains three items about this: 1/A photocopied article (across 3 long columns) from the Southern Cross newspaper dated 21/07/1928. The article contains details of the opening of the Gardenvale Martin Street subway ceremony. Mention is made of the Caulfield Council’s spontaneous assistance, harmony working alongside Brighton and their financial assistance, as well. Councillor E.F. England (Mayor of Caulfield) attended on behalf of the Caulfield Council. He referred to the large patronage on the Brighton line, also mentioning similar issues for the Elsternwick level crossing. There are brief summaries from the many speakers. School children are boarding No. 41, which is inbound with the destination of Lydiard St. North. No. 42 is southbound, or outbound with a destination of Sebastopol. Richard Gilbert photo. Richards notes that came with the photograph "Near the end of school term, students use the trams for the last few days of the closing school term. This Book is most interesting - Melbourne's Beginnings. The Inscription in front of this book M.G. Phillips (nee Taylor), taught school at Concongella during World War II.Soft Card cover of a green and cream colour Three Separate Panels on front cover. Top panel contains a drawing of a ship moored at shore with trees in background. Send Panel Is a Shield with curled side inside is The Title and Authors Name in Brown print. The Lower Panel is the largest contains a drawing of a river with a bridge crossing it, also a church and domed building with a clock tower in the distance. Back Cover contains a drawing of a series of books, in the shape of question mark with a Kookaburra sitting at the top.Inside front cover hand written M.G. Phillipsstawell education -

The drawing is very detailed showing streets, cross streets, route, loops, schools, woollen mills, ovals, sections, track phones, stops, route and track miles, pedestrian crossings, railway stations and notes on through route mileages.Print of a drawing showing in very good detail, the schematic layout of the Geelong Tram system. Produced in 1953 and sent to Tramway Supt. in 1970 for his records. Gives very detailed information on another SEC tramway system.Dyeline print of SEC Drawing No. GE-T13-8829, titled "Schematic Diagram Geelong Tramway Routes". Drawing prepared 27/8/1953. Stapled to the top right hand corner of the sheet is a SEC memo form from finance section, distribution services to the Dept. Tramway Superintendent, Ballarat, dated 6-2-1970 forwarding Les Denmead the plan. Was unstapled during the 1/2008 copying of the drawing. Typed notes mentioning the earning of pocket money, The Great Gold Transaction which tells of two boys, aged 7 and 8 going to the Bank of Victoria in View Street and selling their gold, the visit by American sailors to Bendigo, A Matter of Morals and Ethics which tells of two boys who were given 3d by some ladies preparing for a tea-meeting to buy some milk. After a mishap crossing a gully they lost the 3d, so they went to a herd of goats and milked some to fill their pail. The boy’s mother was horrified.
