Belongs to Captain Brian Clerehan VX 91862 who enlisted 29/3/43 and was discharged 17/7/46 from 2nd New Guinea Infantry Batt.1. Light brown canvas carry bag for two metal bowls. Fold out piece with metal stud to open/close and metal hooks on back to attach to kit. 2. Silver metal bowl approx .6 litre capacity with metal folding handles - oval in shape. 3. These were bought at "A. Jolly's" store, Darwin on 4 Aug 1939 by Cpl Truscott. Advance party No.12 G.P. Squadron Darwin. They were bought for personal use. A note was attached to this item which mentions two of his friends killed in aircraft crashes. CPL Harold William Johnson 1727 RAAF and SGT Walter James Cox 2403 RAAF. This badge was found in a garden in Arnold Street, Bendigo. Not clear if WW1 or WW2, more likely WW1.Brass Badge. It has some evidence of writing that was originally on it. Container - PERSONAL TRUNK, 1944
Metal trunk issued to F.G. Davey for his personal effects which were shipped home to Australia after WW2.Part of the Frederick Gardner Davey DFC collection. Refer Cat No 3536PRectangular metal hinged trunk painted black. A hinged metal handle in on each end and at the back. Each handle is secured with metal rivets. The lid is secured closed with two 'Closebind' catches A brass locking mechanism is located on the front of the body and is accessed through a keyhole. The interior is painted grey with a brown leather seal around the edges of the lid. Various markings in white paint appear on the lid, each end, the back and the front. Paper stickers are glued onto the lid, back and right hand end. Inside the lid is a manufacturers plaque and year of manufacture printed in black.On lid: 'J13/S, F.G. Davey, VIC, R/124, RAAF Central Repository, West Melbourne, Vic'. On front: 'J13/S'. On Left hand end: 'J13?S 90 VIC, P410533, Davey F.G.'. Cpl. Ronald Warren Ellis, EM (VX502517) was born in Brunswick in 1927. His family moved to Lara when he was young, and his schooling took place at the Lara State School. After finishing his education, Ron took up employment at Sims Coopers in Corio. Ron was enlisted in the second AIF at Melbourne, and posted to the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at Greta west of Newcastle, NSW. After 3 months training, he was sent to the Service Corps Training Centre for driver and maintenance training in Ingleburn, south of Sydney. When this course was completed, Ron was posted to the Australian Army Service Corps as a driver motor vehicle with the 2nd AIF. Rons service with the AIF lasted 425 days, when he was then transferred to the Interim Army for a further 309 days. The duration of his service was in NSW. Ron was discharged from the Army in Melbourne on the 4th of May 1948. In 1957, Ron enlisted in the CMF and served with 22nd Construction Squadron for 17 years with the last 5 as a Corporal, and was awarded the Efficiency Medal for long service and good conduct.Brown canvas booklet that is folded into three. Licence gives details of Army number, name, rank and type of vehicle that is able to be driven. Licence has been issued to Private Ronald Warren Ellis on 24/01/1948.
