This article reports on the fire that destroyed the original timber Greensborough Hotel. The original hotel was built in 1860 at the corner of Grimshaw and Church Streets by Frederick Ellis. The first school in Greensborough was a Denominational School on the Church of England site corner Grimshaw and Church Streets. In 1863 the Denominational Schools Board was disbanded and the school became known as a Common School.
