1074.1 - Book or Manual, 20 pages + 6 "PTC Customer Services Revenue Maximisation" form + green card covers bound with a black plastic comb binder - titled "Ticket Checker's Manual - Met Ticket System". or ticketing manual. Has PTC and railway photo on front cover. Gives procedures, concession fares, Met Fare zones, colour coding of tickets, samples of tickets, including a used scratch card ticket (2 hour zone 2 concession) and a number of other tickets which have been stamped cancelled. Would appear that used tickets have been recycled for the publication, also has reproductions of concession cards. On page 19 gives information on free travel for police in uniform and conditions for bicycles, surfboards, prams etc, seeing eye dogs, pets and V/Line tickets. 1074.2 - 21 pages + 9 "PTC Customer Services Revenue Maximisation" form, yellow card covers bound with a black plastic comb binder - titled "Ticket Checker's Manual - Section 1 General Information", Section II, The Met, Section III Concession Cards - has a number of blank pages. .1 - undated letter, titled "Closure of Williamstown train service", advising of the closure of the line, pending a date and redeployment, surplus staff and other employment issues. A similar letter would have been prepared for the Upfield line. .2 - letter dated 6/1/1993 titled "Metropolitan Rail System - Service Alterations and closures" announcing that the Minister for Public Transport, announced the closure of the Newport to Williamstown lines and the Upfield rail line, along with reduction of services on other lines and that a voluntary departure package (termination of employment) is available. Document or memo from the Director of Passenger Services Division to staff regarding the announcement by the Minister for Public Transport Alan Brown about the introduction of bus services to replace tram services on some routes after 8 pm. This caused considerable concern and industrial issues. Dated 6/1/1993. Newspaper - Derailment of tram 121 at Riversdale Road level Crossing, Herald Sun, 8-9-1928
Newspaper Clipping - from the Melbourne Herald Sun Pictorial newspaper - 8/ 9/1928 about the derailment after running through the catch points of a maximum traction tramcar at the Riversdale Road level crossing the previous day 7/9/1928. The front bogie or truck has been torn from underneath the tramcar. On the rear is a report of a boxing match in Winnipeg the previous Friday, between NZ born Bert Brown and Vic Foley. A web search (boxrec.com/boxer/90347) accessed 1/11/2016 shows the match took place on 6/9/1928. A check with The Sun microfilm at the State Library shows the paper was published on 8/9/1928 Study of the photo, discussions with Norm Cross, particularly with regard to the positioning of the numbers; can see "12", the 2 being centred in the panel, indicates the other number could be a "1". Consultation with the record cards indicate it is most likely tram 121. See images i3. Released back in service 21/3/1929 after relatively expensive accident repairs. Provides a synopsis of the report, purpose of investigation, design, operational history, time in workshops, maintenance program, schedule speeds, riding qualities, has appendices with design modification, list of time in workshops, PCC tramcars maintenance program, workshops maintenance of ten typical trams, MMTB Tramcar Schedule speeds.
