In the view are one cable tram, many pedestrians and some horse-drawn vehicles. A hoarding on the left hand side possibly indicates work is underway on the new station building. A sign on the pole advises that cable trams went to Spencer St for a penny and for 3d to Port Melbourne or South Melbourne. In the background are buildings for Sargood Bros, Thomas Whitelaw Home Decorators, The Hub, a sign on the Young & Jackson Hotel advertising a Women's Exhibition. Article written by the Age transport Reporter, Patrick Hatch. Discusses the possible non-return of trams to Domain Road following the opening of the new tram interchange at ANZAC station. Set of two colour prints taken on the last day of operation, of the Hawthorn Tram depot as a running depot in the evening. The photographer is not known. Possibly a copy print. 1 - looking at operations in Wallen Road with W2 353 (Hawthorn route 27) returning to the depot and two W2s (possibly 330 and 332) shunting in Wallen Road. 2 - SW6 855 and SW6 848 are on roads 5 and 6 in the "new" shed at Hawthorn. The depot ceased as a running shed on 14/2/1965. Has a table of contents, introduction, an overview of the operators, list of Urban Transport Milestones During the Tramway Era for NZ and a story "Mystery Solved by Tram Ticket by Robert Pine as told by Jack McLean about a murder in London that was solved by a tram ticket found in the person's clothes. In retirement Richard has researched the history of private bus routes before 1932 and government bus routes 1932-2021.
