This life saving device was on the steam tug Wattle to be thrown to a person if they fell overboard. This ring has either been repainted since Wattle moved from Sydney to Melbourne or was part of the new equipment installed when Wattle was transferred to Melbourne in 1971Ring of buoyant material painted in white, red and blue with metal inner rim and metal outer rim with loops for attaching throwing rope. The life buoy is constructed of a foam centre and outer coating of fiberglass. An inner metal rim reinforces the construction while the outer metal rim assists with reinforcement but also provides 4 loops at 2pm, 4pm, 8pm and 10pm locations on the face of a clock. These loops have rope threaded through them to provide hand hold and grips and a method of attaching the life buoy to the boat. This First Aid Case was used which was used at the the former Carnegie Senior Citizens' Centre. The centre was located at 314 Neerim Road, Carnegie. When the Neerim Road facility closed, its activities were moved to the Carnegie Library and Community Centre. Cream metal first aid case. Case is hinged on the long side, and has a handle and latch on the side opposite the hinge. Blue, gold, red and cream "Sanax First Aid Ambulance Case" label on lid featuring cross icon and flaming torch icon. Cream enamel paint has been painted over the exterior of the case, minor areas of overlap on label. Interior of case is split into three sections. Ripparoo Lodge was one of the earliest Lodges established in the Falls Creek Village. In the 1960s, Bob and Noelene Lee moved to Falls Creek to run Ripparoo Lodge. They later built Attunga Ski Lodge. David Miller (Dave) Mair (1879-1938) married Lily Vipond Deakin (1890-1945) in 1910. Personal communication from Laurie Newton, Beryl's daughter: Dave and Lily initially lived in East Melbourne after they married. Their children Geoffrey, Beryl and Gwynneth were born in East Melbourne. They subsequently moved to Louise Avenue, Mont Albert and Isabel may have been born while they were there. Later they purchased 20 Barton Street, Mont Albert. Shirley was born after they moved to Barton Street. Dave was an extremely keen sportsman (particularly bowls and cricket). He started the Kangaroo Cricket Club and worked for the Melbourne Cricket Club.This is part of a large donation related to the Deakin, Mair and Young families with connections to the Surrey Hills / Mont Albert area.A sepia photo of a group of men and women grouped as in team or class photos against a leafy background. Rossi Boots started in 1910 when Arthur Edward Rossiter resigned from his position as a supervisor at the Adelaide Boot Company and started Rossiters Ltd in a small tin shed in his backyard. A larger factory was needed so the first of three stages of a factory was built. During the Second World War Rossi Boots was a major supplier to the military making hundreds of thousands of boots that saw service in various theatres including New Guinea. The war years saw the number of employees peak at around five hundred. As methods of manufacturing footwear changed as petroleum-based products such as glues, rubbers and plastics have replaced the traditional ones of leather, nails, and threads. More modern machinery was introduced to directly mould soles to the bottom of the boot. At the end of 1987, the company moved from Unley to Hilton this move allowed production to be carried out in a more modern, fit-for-purpose factory. Since then the company has continued to change; introducing computer-controlled machines for cutting, sewing, and attaching soles. These changes occurred whilst many of Rossi's competitors moved offshore. Whilst the introduction of these machines reduced the number of local staff, it has enabled Rossi Boots to continue to manufacture in Australia. In March 2019 Rossi Boots relocated the factory, warehouse, and headquarters from Hilton to Kilburn, South Australia. This move to a new, expansive location allows Rossi Boots to continue manufacturing in South Australia housing all operations under one roof. The items are significant as they show the beginnings of an important manufacturer and innovator that is still in the original founding family's ownership and is producing boots today with exports to many countries. The Bilcock family had one of the early general stores in Kent Avenue and later moved to Toorak Avenue, Croydon. The father, David Bilcock was a talented film maker. His daughter, Joan Bilceaux, was a renown singer, model and actor, having varied the spelling of her surname as her chosen professional name.

1907 photoghraph of Eliza Hand (Grandma Hand), Florence Hand (Aunt Florrie) and little Gert on the verandah of the Beulah Tea Rooms at FiveWays (The Gap). This photograph has a detailed inscription on the back handwritten by John Lundy-Clarke in 1974.1907. Eliza Hand on the verandah of her shop at Kalorama gap with her daughter Florence. Opened as "Beulah Tearooms" it was made a post office in 1909 and Florence Hand became post mistress. It remained active till 1923 when, the building having been sold to Miss McPhee she built the Fiveways store alongside and moved the post office to another room. The verandah was pulled down but the room is still there (1974) facing Ridge Road at the west end of the complex. Eliza died 1918. Europeans arrived in the Kiewa and Ovens Valleys in the 1830's and 40's. Following the drought of 1838-44, seeking out the rich pastures in the fertile Valleys. It proved to be perfect conditions for dairy farming and the raising of cattle. Miners Cottages and other similar wooden structures were a common sight in the area as they were a modest form of accommodation for their period, were quick to erect and economical as they made use of locally available building materials such as local timbers.These photographs provide a snapshot into the early dwellings and architecture of the Kiewa and Ovens Valley regions, including buildings such as the church, which provided an important gathering place for social interaction, especially in these isolated areas.1-Wooden church building with no identification. This robe was the last City of Moorabbin Mayoral Robe, and was worn by Mayor Ron Brownlees, (prior to the City of Moorabbin's amalgamation with City of Glen Eira and City of Kingston in 1994). It was donated to the City of Moorabbin Historical Society in February 2007 by the City of Kingston. 12/11/2018 Cr Steve Staikos MAYOR City of Kingston requests that CMHS loan the Mayoral Robes and Jabot with Cuffs for display at KCC Officess Nepean Highway Cheltenham on going 7 Years. The Moorabbin Mayoral Robe with Jabot is displayed along with those of former City of Chelsea Robes and former City of Mordialloc Robes at Kingston City Council Office . The KCC possesses the Mayoral Chains of each former Council and they are displayed on the Mayoral Robes for the Annual Opening meeting of KCC in February .The City of Moorabbin developed from the Moorabbin Roads Board of 1862, becoming The Shire of Moorabbin in 1871 and the City of Moorabbin in 1934. In the 1994 Amalgamation of Councils the City of Moorabbin was divided between the new City of Kingston in the South and the new City of Glen Eira to the North . This is the last Mayoral Robe for the City of Moorabbin 1934- 1994City of Moorabbin Mayoral Robe. Full length garment of royal blue material, 55% Polyester & 45% Wool, with gold braid on hem and sleeves. Full length Collar and the cuffs are brown mink and sleeves are lined with blue satin. Two brass clips on shoulders are for the attachment of the Mayoral Chain. Hook and eye fasteners join the front of the robe.
