Demonstrates aspects of the SEC governance system in issuing By-laws for the travelling public, as part of their Act. Yields information about fares charged for tram services in Ballarat and Bendigo. Issued to crews.Booklet with orange card cover and 12 pages, numbered 1 to 10, side stapled, off set printed giving details of fares, revised in June 1963 for both Ballarat and Bendigo, to come into force on 1/8/1963. Has details of sections etc. Was shown as being approved by the Governor in Council on 25/6/1963. Adjust the City Section fares only. See Alan Bradley notes in references re this. Full pdf copy added 28/5/2019. Alan Bradley advised 25/4/2005. In the "Courier" of 26/6/1963, the adjustments to fares from 1/8/1963 were announced. They were only for adjustments to city section fares. Fares outside the city area remained unchanged. The SEC promoted these as being cheaper city section fares. Tom Evans gave me a copy of a poster showing a Scotsman boarding a tram. The caption was: "Now! It's cheaper to travel by tram! Beats walking every time!" New economy city fares. Produced by the North Sydney Boys High School Railway club, prior to the closure of the Ballarat system - little else written and published at the time about the history and details of the system. A very good booklet for the time - produced entirely by the wax cut stencil process. Has a strong association with the people who prepared the document.Twenty page booklet on the history, operation and tramcars of Ballarat, produced by the Nth Sydney Boys High School Railway Club in July 1971. Printed on a wax cut stencil process, with green covers, drawings, maps, track layout, fleet list, gives tentative closure dates, route descriptions, sketches, stapled on edge. Title "The Ballarat Tram". Stapled on the left hand side. On front cover, printed in white ink is SECV name, logo, words, "Provincial Tramways", "Instructions for Tramway Traffic Inspectors", "Issued 1951", and a note that the book remains the property of the SEC. Inside cover as above with location for name and date to whom book was issued to. Indexed. Contents gives rules for behaviour, ticket checking procedures, reports, traffic supervision, safety and accidents. Copies 2 and 3 on display in cabinet in 39 since 1992 until 10/04. Trams ...Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block of 25 No. 13 cent Parcel Tickets. Two part printed ticket, using sepia ink on white paper with a gummed back, stapled with a single staple at the top onto a cardboard sheet. Ticket Nos. A007001 to A007025 The ticket butt or top portion has the form number "TYE 3-590". The second or middle portion was to be affixed to the parcel to be carried. It has the name of the organisation (SECV), "Parcel Ticket 13c", conditions of carriage and ticket number, prefixed with the letter A. The lower portion was retained by the sender, was to be initialled by the conductor, organisation name, "Parcel Ticket 13c", conditions of use, ticket number and a space where to be initialled by the conductor. The 1969 Schedule of Fares and Charges gives the conditions of the use of these tickets. See Reg. Item No. 704. 1727.1 - As above, Ticket Nos. A007405 to A 007405. Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 1, No. 4, Feb 1937 titled "Electricity Supply and Tramways / Reconditioning the Tramway Systems at Ballarat and Bendigo". Each item had a thin strip of paper attached by staple to the top left hand corner, giving the Vol. No. details. The item gives the background to the takeover from ESCo. Details some of the work undertaken in both Ballarat and Bendigo, including the widening of double track in McCrae St to 10' to allow ex MMTB trams to run. Work at Grenville St - City Loop, the method of track laying in Ballarat - concrete stringers, welded joints, financial arrangements for the work - employment council. Includes replacement of trolley wire. Features photos of reconditioned track on the Eaglehawk Route and a caterpillar tractor. One A3 sheet and one A4 sheet. The article details the SEC's part in the celebration of Geelong's Centenary Celebrations in October 1938. Opened by Mayor, Alderman C. N. Brown. Details the lighting needs for the celebrations, 400kW, the large motor traffic who came to see them, damage due to Gales, public buildings illuminated and the procession. Includes details of the decorated trams - 1500 paper floors and 400 lamps. Has photos of Moorabool St, a decorated Pengelly tram and Power Station. Page 1 gives a list of amendments by date to the original by-law of 9/3/1937. Defines Pensioners and Child fares. Booklet dated January 1962, SEC Sealed the document 18/1/1962, Governor-In-Council approval granted 15/1/1963 and came into force 1/3/1963. SECV - 1d Section Ticket - pink card with a cancellation hole through the ticket. Has letter A on the left hand side of one face, details of where it could be used, number FTY 20-99 on reverse side along with price. Sold in strips of 12 for 1/-. Does appear to have a ticket number printed on it. See Reg Item 3060 page 8 for details of use in Bendigo. SECV - 2d Section Ticket - green card with a cancellation hole through the ticket. Has letter A on the left hand side of one face, details of where it could be used, number FTY 20-98 on reverse side along with price. Sold in strips of 6 for 1/-. Set of 7 mixed SEC tickets ex Bendigo decimal conversion tickets or dual currency, donated by Peter. W. Watt. Tickets do not appear to have been used in traffic - no punch marks. Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. All on off white paper unless otherwise noted with a tartan style back unless noted with number printed in black ink. 4c/4d - City Section - A128087 - orange printing. 6c/7d - City Section - A068009 - purple printing. 4c/4d - A502400 - red printing. 6c/7d - A460201 - teal printing. 8c/10d - A479463 - green printing. 10c/1/- - A129159 - black printing. 12c/ 1/2 - A127702 - brown printing. SECV - 1/6d Weekly Ticket - white card, with black and red printing. Headed with SEC details, punch marks for day of week on the sides, in and out directions and in the centre area of the ticket, overprinted in red, numbers 1 to 8. On rear has availability details, where it can be used, not available on Sunday and ticket number "EA341101" printed on the ticket in black ink. Has been used and possibly ex a tramcar given the condition. Note different style to that held to date (5/2005) for use in Ballarat and Bendigo. Simpler in style than previous tickets, could be 1940's.trams, tramways, tickets, fares, secv, weekly tickets
