8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles Regimental CollectionManual
Corporal L. Frohling served with the Tech Support Troop and later Workshop Troop of 8/13 VMR in 1970s and 1980s.Technical manuals and User Handbooks were essential equipment for Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) tradesmen permanently attached to Armoured Corps regiments as Light Aid Detachments (LAD) or AFV Workshops and were responsible for repairs and maintenance of a nature beyond the expertise of AFV crewmen and just short of major rebuilds undertaken by Base Workshop detachments.Part of a collection of workshop manuals and user handbooks relating to equipment on issue to 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles during the latter half of the twentieth century.Green coloured vinyl covered manual, 322 pages, bound with metal screws being Maintenance Manual Truck Cargo 2.5 Ton CL Ford D400. Milk was delivered by the "milk man" direct to the homes of consumers. Delivery to homes in Orbost and district and was made initially by horse and cart and later by truck. .The dairy industry in Orbost and the surrounding area has always been a major contributor to the milk supply of Victoria.A clear glass half-pint milk or cream bottle. Moulded in two halves, made to take either a cork or cardboard disc pressed into top with wire grip. The bottle was meant to be recycled and the glass is therefore quite thick. Friends of Kurth KilnGas Producer from Talbot
According to Les Solomano this unitoriginally belonged to the Hendricks brothers of Talbot. It was mounted on the front bumper of their 6 ton truck used for general cartage.The Unit shows the wide range of Gas Producers constructed during the war years to drive with charcoal fuel. This Gas Producer unit appears to be home-made mild steel construction for a specific purpose. The assembly sits on a welded frame, the hopoper on one side, the filter drum on the other and the radiator in between.there are no specific markings visible -

The Morgan family ran a store in Sussex Street from 1894, known as the Linton Economic Store. It was run between c.1906 and 1930 by J.H. (John Hutchison) Morgan, between 1930 and 1956 by R.H. (Robert Harold) Morgan, and between 1956 and 1964 by S.E. (Selwyn Eric) Morgan. Alwyn Roberts worked at the store from about 1946. See information in Charles & Alwyn Roberts family file. Carrie Murrell ran the newsagancy in Linton for more than fifty years.Black and white photograph of two men (Bert Rutherford on left, Alwyn Roberts on right), wearing grocer's aprons, standing next to a truck which is parked outside H. His overseas service is listed as from 16.6.1943 to 1.10.1944 on Goodenough, Kiriwina and Los Negros Islands. Then Madang from 5.6.1945 to 22.10.1945. Other service was Townsville QLD. Discharged from the RAAF on 18.12.1945 with the rank of LAC in No 2 Medical Recieving Station. As a result of signioficantly wet conditions, the truck became disabled when the trailer slipped off the verge of the unsealed muddy road whilst negotiating a hairpin bend.
