All wearing uniform hats, but not all wearing full uniform (no badges but wearing ties - possibly temporary or casual staff - c1906 - 51 people. Postcard - Souvenir ESCo opening Ticket, Electric Supply Co. of Vic (ESCo), August 1905
Used as a souvenir ticket and postcard on the opening day of the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria (ESCo), Ballarat tramways on 18 August 1905, Has been punched for the Mount Pleasant and Orphanage - Grenville St section. Collected by David Budge - 1879 - 1974, son of William and Mary Budge of Trevor St Ballarat, who worked for the Victorian Railways as a blacksmith residing in Walnut St Carnegie. Demonstrates a souvenir item for the opening of the electric tramways in Ballarat in the form of a postcard, which could be sent to others as a souvenir of the new tram system in Ballarat. Has a strong association with the collector.Postcard - size Souvenir Tram ticket, printed using blue ink on one side with fare, photos of power station, engine room, boiler room and a tram & No.2341 stamped on edge. On reverse side is space for stamp, address etc., - with line & "postcard' etc., printed in red ink. Model - Model Melbourne SW5 tram and presentation case, Cooee Concepts Pty Ltd, 2008
Detailed in The Met colour scheme of the 1980s with the logo of the early 1980s. Demonstrates an operable model of a Melbourne SW5 class tram.Model of Melbourne Melbourne tram W5 (actually an SW5) No. 812, electric model, made by Cooee Concepts Pty Ltd in China. The model is packaged in a wooden packing case with a blue felt base, contained within a cardboard outer case. The cardboard cover or case has a printed sheet giving details of the model and the history of the W5 Class tramcar. The wooden case has a brass plate detailing the contents. Scale 00 or 1:76. Model made from plastic and metal, with operable lights and motors with operable trolley poles, swiveling bogies, the destination of St Kilda, showing route 16. Headlights function in the direction of travel. The package has a manufacturing date of 2008 printed on it. Photograph of Electric Supply Co. of Vic (ESCo) Ballarat tram 18 in Wendouree Parade with the Gardens Kiosk in the background. Tram has a roof advertisement for Monosylk hosiery. There is a safety zone sign and two gentlemen standing alongside. The safety zone and line markings are unusual in Ballarat where passengers alighted or boarded on the lake side of the roadway. A related item could be 5904 which shows ESCo tram 9 offloading passengers on the "wrong side" for Ballarat at this location and a sign in position. Possibly a special event or a trial. Functional Object - Tramcar, Meadowbank Manufacturing Co. Sydney, SECV Tram No. 11, 1915
One of a number of this type of tram still in working order in Australian tramway museums. Has no motors. Interior one of the few given a paint finish by SEC, others are varnished. Has timber panelled sides.Single truck (4 wheels), drop ends, modified open California combination to closed car, with 4 doors, 2 at either end, longitudinal seats, sliding internal doors, air brakes. - electric motors removed.
