Upon confirmation that a new bridge was to be built, there was some discussion about the possibility of retaining the old bridge for pedestrian purposes, or part of the old bridge as a fishing platform. These letters are part of the correspondence re an organisation taking responsibility for the ongoing maintenance so the old bridge could be retained.The old bridge was constructed of locally sourced timber and was such an important structure to the town when built. St. John’s Bowls Club was formed in 1926 as a sporting adjunct to the activities of St. Johns Presbyterian Church in Warrnambool. In 1956 the club moved to Princess Street in the church grounds. It closed in 2012, the closure caused by dwindling membership and the site being designated by the Presbyterian Church for other purposes. This hat band is of interest as a memento of St. John’s Bowls Club in Warrnambool. This club no longer exists.This is a navy cloth hat band – a strip of material stitched at one end to shorten it and shaped with a ‘V’ at the other end . There is a gold metal clip at the ‘V’ shaped end to join the material to make a continuous circle and to attach the band to the brim of a hat. Hugh Lennon began making ploughs in Carlton from 1960 and within 10yrs the patented steel plough ,suitable to Australian conditions was outselling all imported cast iron mouldboard ploughs. This general purpose mouldboard plough was used to form the streets in Yarrawonga during the 1880's........from James A. Irwin of Oaklands [formerly Lake Rowan] "This plough was used by William Christians and John Holmes [Jim Irwin's father -in-law]when they worked on the formation of Belmore St, Yarrawonga" circa 1880- 1890'sThe early settlers [1870] used this type of plough pulled by one horse.to prepare their ground for wheat sowing. From the early 1880's the double -furrow plough came into general use, pulled by 2 horses. Being a wheeled machine, it allowed the ploughman to sit on the plough and save miles of walking during ploughing operations. Over the years ploughs became bigger, and needed more horses to pull them.

A coolamon is an Indigenous Australian carrying vessel. It is a multi-purpose shallow vessel, or dish with curved sides, ranging in length from 30–70 cm, and similar in shape to a canoe. Coolamons or pitchis were traditionally used by Aboriginal women to carry water, fruits, nuts, as well as to cradle babies. The necessary tools and equipment for hunting, fishing and warfare were one of the very few items that Aboriginals carried with them from place to place. Most were used for a multiplicity of purposes. Because many were made from raw natural materials, such as wood, generally only partial remains are found today.
