The Number 1 Training School (No 1 F.T.S ) was formed in 1921 to train pilots. This display at the 1992 Wildflower Show in the Halls Gap Hall replicated the D'Alton home "Glenbower". The seated mannequin represents Henrietta D'Alton (artist) and the standing mannequin represents Ellen D'Alton. For further information about "Glenbower" and the Misses D'Alton see "Victoria's Wonderland", pp 79 & 123. ** the two copies are also originals, the third original is a slightly closer view of the display.The photo shows a stage display - a house has been set up to replicate "Glenbower". The Director, Bruce Ludeman, had previously been a stock and station agent before establishing his real estate business in Warrnambool in 1985. Bruce Ludeman, a business broker, auctioneer and property manager, is President of the Otway Division of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria and received a Presidents Award in 2012 for services to the real estate industry in the Western District. This envelope is of minor interest as an example of the type of business envelope used today in the real estate businesses in Warrnambool. This is a business-type white envelope with a see-through insert to show the address. It is self-sealing. The name and business address of Ludeman Real Estate is printed at the top left hand corner of the envelope. The water tower on the corner of Pakenham St and High Street Echuca, was designed by Sir John Monash, who was an innovator in the use of reinforced concrete. The tower cost £2,973 and was completed in 1915. It is 108 feet high and holds 150,000 gallons. it was originally connected to the steam powered pumping plant at Echuca East. John Monash was a war hero at Gallipoli in 1915 and also went on to be the Manager of the Victorian State Electricity Commission. Monash University was named after him.The water tower was a revolutionary design in 1915. It also brought tapped water to people's homes. Sir John Monash made a huge contribution to engineering and social concepts, which was why he was knighted.
