The photograph shows Ted Child with his working horse Spark cutting grass at his homestead on Childs Road. The photograph was taken by his daughter Ivy Child. Ivy May Child (1910 – 1989) was the daughter of Arthur Edward (Ted) Child (1878 – 1964) and Ethel May Madden (1888 – 1970). Ted Child was the son of Matthew Francis Child (1839 – 1933) and Martha Jeeves (1857 – 1926). He was the grandson of one of the early pioneers Francis Child. Ivy grew up on the family property on Childs Road and took many photographs. Most of these are glued into her photo album. The album covered the years from c1927 – 1932. Ivy married Henry William Burgess (1906 – 1968) in 1944. The photographs remain in their original state in the album with individual copies made. Mrs Eliza Jeeves, wife of Ellis Jeeves, standing in the garden outside the Mountjoy Guest House in Kalorama. Eliza was one of six daughters of Thomas Hand and Eliza Hand, (nee Erith) who owned the Mountain Grange property. Eliza and Ellis ran the Mountjoy Guest House from 1908 and Eliza ran it alone after Ellis's death in a buggy accident in 1921 until just before her death in 1943. Eliza Hand married Ellis Jeeves in 1885. They had 12 children, with 8 surviving to adulthood (5 boys and 3 girls). Eliza was one of the daughters of Thomas and Eliza Hand of Mountain Grange Homestead. Eliza and Ellis extended their home in the valley 'Kalorama' to become a Guest House. In 1908 they purchased 'Mountjoy Guest House' from the Paynter family and ran a very successful guest house and coach business. Following the death of Ellis Jeeves in a buggy accident in 1921, Eliza ran the guest house and her son, Hubert, the coaching business. The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. Single page typescript composed by Jill A'Vard, and single page with four copies of photographs. -Micawber Park Picnic Ground Belgrave c. 1934 shows a forest scene, a creek with a large tree fallen across it, a wooden footbridge, and a man in a hat standing on the bridge. Black and white photo. -Micawber Tea Rooms Belgrave shows a group of two men and two women standing on the verandah of a building which bears the signs "Refreshments", "Hot water" and "Micawber Tea Rooms". Black and white photo. -Ted & Lil A'Vard sitting in their lounge room at Micawber Park c. 1935 shows a middle-aged couple in armchairs in front of a brick fireplace. The mantelpiece holds several items including a clock. Behind the woman, on the right side, is a wooden stand with a green vase holding an arrangement of autumn-coloured flowers and foliage. The man is holding a book and there is possibly a dark dog at the woman's feet. Handmade three dimensional wool frame. Features a Chinese house in a winter night scene. Decorative raised parts include the frame edge, house, roof, fence, moon and stars. Each piece is bound in wool thread to create the woven effect. Colours of blue, white, brown and red. Sealed in a plastic bag. Manufacturer's label printed in Chinese on reverse. -

The buildings are probably rare remnant examples of their type in the local area and as such are significant to the settlement of Menzies Creek. The dwelling is significant as a longstanding marker of the Madigan family who were original settlers in the area. Its retention in its site close to the road boundary expresses and maintains a connection with early settlement and rural lifestyles in Menzies Creek over the last century. The old shed is of interest as a local example of bush construction, particularly in context with the cottage and farm environs. Without the life of the farm and other elements presumed now gone, its value is lessened.Folder containing information pertaining to the history of Madigan Cottage, Menzies Creek. One house is probably the house which features in other photos. The name 'Belgrave' has been hand-drawn on the top of the photo in an elegant script. Photo of a woman of about sixty standing in a garden with a house in the background. The woman has thick grey/white hair swept back, and she is unsmiling and looking to her left. She is wearing a dark skirt and jacket with three buttons over a pale blouse with a frilled collar. In her hands is a twig or piece of grass or similar. There is a wedding ring on her hand. The house in the background is the same house as in other photos. The land slopes upwards and Monbulk Road is most likely hidden by the thick bush behind the house. Trees and bracken edge a cleared area of land. The house is probably located at present-day 20 Monbulk Road, Belgrave and is no longer standing. -
