Stratherne Presbyterian Girls' School was founded in 1889 at the home of Miss Ethel Dare at 45 Riversdale road, Hawthorn. The final location of the school was 131 Power street, Hawthorn - a house gifted to the school by Mr and Mrs John Patterson in 1923. The Alma Pedersen Cup was awarded for best general improvement in the Junior school. The school closed in 1968.Art Deco style silver trophy on a stand with five shield shaped silver plaques screwed to its bakelite base. Swedish snow shoes for horses were imported by Martin Romuld in 1937. They were used by Tom Fitzgerald's packhorses but not on the State Electricity Commission of Victoria's horses as a S.E.C.V. 'horse expert' claimed the horses would break their legs.Tom Fitzgerald lived on the Omeo Highway near Shannonvale and brought cattle up to the Bogong High Plains. He would have travelled in the snow during the year visiting his hut and maintaining his equipment. The S.E.C.V. worked on the Bogong High Plains all year round during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. Ormiston Rubber Co. Pty Ltd started in Moonee Ponds Melbourne in 1937. Its origins can be traced back to 1876 when Barnet Glass migrated from Manchester, England and established Barnet Glass Rubber in Carlton. Container used to house 'Ormiston Type Cleaner', a product used for cleaning typewriter and adding machine type, rubber and metal stamps. . A photo, that appeared in the magazine section of the Weekly Times in 1937, of Taylor's General Store and Cafe after a flood of the Stoney Creek. The creek flowed through the store at the height of the flood. The course of the creek was changed after this flood to prevent this happening again.A newspaper cutting. Tom Marks (1857-1939) was a founding member of the Association for the Advancement of the Blind and president in 1900 and 1935-1937. For centenary celebrations of the Association, portraits were painted of past presidents and photographs gathered in preparation of this. As his father was Jewish, Duras was forced to leave Germany , and came to Australia to take up a post as director of physical education at Melbourne University. Metal pelvimeter.
