Catherine Maggs was married to James Maggs who belonged to a large pioneer family in the Ringwood area. They had nine children. James died in July 1940. 'Grantully' was formerly 'Rosemount', South Yarra, home of Thoas Elder Boyd. Brought to Mt Evelyn by Fergus Scott c. 1917, guesthouse 1920's-30's, home of artist Ernest Buckmaster 1940-68.Part of wooden beam possibly cedar, from the house "Grantully", English, 1840's. The more recently sawn end has pinkish tinge. The rectangular cavity is a 'mortise' into which a projection ('tenon') on another piede fitted.Inscription on one side, possibly made by permanent marker. " "GRANTULLY" MT. Robert Charlton conducted a blacksmith, wheelwright and farrier business on the corner of Evans and Station Street, Sunbury from 1918 to 1940. The copy was taken from a photograph displayed in Mick Walsh's garage which is now on the above site.A black and white photograph of two sheds. A weatherboard shed with corrugated iron roof is on the LHS and the corrugated iron building is the blacksmith's forge and wheelwright's workshop. Two men are standing in fron of the large doorway. In August 1940, 13th Light Horse (Gippsland) converted from horse to mechanised initially as 13th Motor Regiment then 13th Armoured Regiment.
