Poster - Framed Notice, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), "Our Safe Working Days Score", 1950's
Demonstrates the safety record of the SEC Ballarat depot, has a strong association with the workers and Yields information about their performance and dates.Timber framed box, glass fronted, Masonite back, painted black on the edges and front with a slot on the underside and metal catch screwed to the timber that allowed a preprinted poster to be slid out from the base. The poster titled "Our Safe Working Days Score", provided with secured to the poster, four metal sheets pressed with three rounded edges to allow a paper strip to be slid in from the right hand side and secured. Poster has been preprinted for the SEC Electricity Supply Department". The top strip gave the name of the location "Ballarat - Tram - Depot", the second strip - no sheet present and purpose not known, date since the last event "9-4-69" and the previous best score - "982" days.trams, tramways, depot, sec, safety, personnel -

The State Electricity Commission of Victoria 1921 to 1993 was responsible for electricity generation in Victoria and the operation of three Provincial Tramways. It had a strong safety focus for the time. These certificates show the safety focus and the reporting of safety performance to employees and visitors.Demonstrates the safety record of the SEC Ballarat depot, has a strong association with the workers and Yields information about their performance and dates.Set of three Timber framed certificates, glass front, black painted side timber with brown paper or card or Masonite backing and masking tape around the edges, titled "Award of Honour - Industrial Safety", that the Tram Depot Ballarat had established a meritorious record for safe work with no lost time. Gives the period and the date of the away. Signed by the Manager - A. W. Linaker? or F. White and the Chairman of the Safety Committee "Wm K. Trusler". Demonstrates how armatures movements (tram motors) were recorded at the SEC depot in Ballarat.Sign - made from three ply (wood) board, originally painted with black board paint and white lined and lettered for Armatures / Tram / possibly date in or out. Has two screw holes centrally top and bottom and has faded on either side of a central band, indicating it was attached to post. Yields information about the track maintenance activities of the track gang in Ballarat, the work they did, notes, names and other information.Book - SEC "Workshop Job Requisition" book - numbered 2856 to 2900, three sheets per requisition - yellow, blue and off white kept in book. Has some 20 areas where information on the requisition could be recorded - on the rear sheet is provision for extending the cost of the job and accounting information. The off white sheet has been by the SEC Ballarat track gang to record their daily work, welding, track cleaning, etc for the period 1-8-1950 to 12-2-1951. Series of four Black and white photographs of tram 26 on No. 2 road at the BTPS Depot, undergoing replacement of the broken frame on the Brill 21E truck. The tramcar record sheets note that the car was lifted 15-3-1975 and lower 27-7-1975 and tested on the same day. 1099.1 - photocopy of an article in The Courier, Ballarat Tuesday Feb. 9 1988, page 17 of the house that contained Ballarat ESCo tram No. 12 in the Tuesday Heritage Column of the newspaper. Contains a photograph of the house containing the tramcar. Newspaper Clipping details the former occupiers, the Rayner family, the construction of the extensions around the tramcar, family use, family history and some details of the family members and other local history. The copy of the newspaper Clipping has numerous pin holes in the corner and the rust marks due to use on a display on Tram No. 12 in a display board in the depot from about 1991 to 1998. From a copy made from the newspaper Clipping collection held by Alan Bradley. 1099.2 - copy made March 1999 of the same Clipping for record purposes and to have a good copy. (2 copies held). Possibly 1896 following the introduction of the new Companies Act. Company Secretary was a person with the surname of Brown, possibly Edward Nathan, who is on the list of shareholders and occupation shown as Accountant.
