Two articles that relate to the annual demonstration in 1977. The demonstration was called 'Legacy on Parade' for a number of years. The junior legatees were dressed in costumes, for the production of 'My Fair Lady'. They were Leanne Johnston and Terri Cott in long dressed, and Roseanne Whitehead as Eliza Doolittle and John Fiedler as her father Alfred. The articles were cut from the newspaper and pasted into a scrapbook. For many years Legacy kept scrapbooks of press clippings that related to their work and publicity. 'Once the show starts I don't say a word. The girls find their own places on the floor and perform to the music. A newspaper article from 16 October 1969 shows the girls were to perform as skaters in the production of "The Seasons" in the annual demonstration. Their names are Cathy Richardson, 9 of Avondale Heights, Karen Mills, 11 of West Footscray, and Thelma Richardson, 10 from Avondale Heights. A photo of girls in similar costumes posing with a snowman appears in a newspaper clipping at 01824 from 1959 which shows that Legacy reused the elaborate costumes that were produced for the demonstrations. Various invitations, programmes and other mementos collected from Legacy events held during the early 1960's. These include invitations and tickets to the Annual Demonstrations of 1960 and 1961, the ANZAC eve school children's ceremony, also to the Senior Widows Club Grand concert (18 December 1961). The Senior Widows club also held a Christmas Dinner. Also a lapel tag for the Legacy Mothers Club. There are also mementos for Junior Legatees, such as tickets to attend the Christmas party at Government House and to Operation Float in 1962 and 1963. There are also tokens for ice creams and soft drinks at the events. There is a programme for the 1961 Annual Demonstration.A collection compiled to remember various events held in the early 1960s. The letter is in reply to a request from the Junior Legacy Club for Aaron Beattie to provide more detail in his accounts for services provided. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to the 1980's, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall or Olympic Pool Stadium. The year was assumed to be 1972 as that was one year that 4th August was a Friday. A record of a Junior Legacy demonstration.
