Back to Port Melbourne celebrations were an early type of Port Melbourne Festival.One of two festival badges from 1932: tin, white, printed in brown: "Back to Port Melbourne - Admit to Gymkhana on Station Pier - Afternoon & Evening - Mayor's Appeal", identical except for date: one "May 7th", this one "Äpril 7th". Probably produced for Port Melbourne City Council, for appeal for Mt Mulligan mining disaster. Seventy five workers were killed in the series of explosions at the Mount Mulligan coal mine on the morning of 19 September 1921. There were no survivors.
