This aerial photograph shows the Kew Cottages, and doctors/clergy residences on the north side of Wills Street, before the State Government sold the land for residential development. The doctors residences in Wills street were made of 'Glen Iris' Olympic Bricks. Lane between Bamford's Timber Yard, corner Warrandyte Rd. and Maroondah Highway, and went to Melbourne St, later called Civic Place. Other buildings were Ham's Billiard Saloon, the two-story Renong Chambers, bottom left Jack Orr's clothes hoists and bottom right Horman & Woolhouse plumbers. All demolished for the building of Eastland in the 1960s. The photo shown is a typical example but may not be in the collection.

Murray Comrie Collection. This is a reasonable copy of an older original. Copy probably made by Murray Comrie in the 1960s. The store close for business in 1916, and the building was demolished in 1926 after falling into disrepair. Originally built by James Ray in the early 1860s, London House was centrally located in Tarnagulla's commercial area and was a very successful enterprise for many decades. This extensive weatherboard store was built in 1893 at a cost of one thousand pounds, architect was H French, builder McKnockiter Bros and D Collins the plasterer. William Barke managed the general store, bakery and hardware, brother John Barke managed the clothing and fancy goods department. A branch of the Bank of Victoria was erected from bluestone in Mortlake in 1866. In 1860 improvements were made to the branch in in 1927 the Bank of Victoria mered with the Commercial Banking Co. of Sydney Ltd which later became the National Bank of Australia. This bluestone building was demolished in 1956 to make way for a new brick National Bank of Australia banking chamber and residence. The bluestone was taken to a local property called "Cattle Runs"

Through improvements in productivity after 1095, Dennys, Lascelles, Austin and Co. determined to expand and engaged the Sydney-based engineer Edward Giles Stone. The resulting Bow Truss Building was claimed as being the largest flat-roof space in the world (almost an acre) without visible support. Augustus Shebler born in Berlin, Prussia in 1827 was a Melton resident started a store on the Flat at Bryan and Sherwin street in 1855. He built the Golden Fleece Hotel in 1865. He died at the Golden Fleece Hotel in 1908. The building, was demolished during the 1970s due to development in the area and was rebuilt in another location. The Watts and Jongebloed famlies are descendants of Shebler.Event took place on High Street Meltonlocal identities, local architecture

These dinner plates were used at the Criterion Hotel in Kepler Street, Warrnambool, about the mid 1900s. The Criterion Hotel was opened in 1872 with the first licensee, John Tate. The Humm family was associated with the hotel from the 1880s to 1919 and members of the McGennan family were licensees and owners of the hotel for over 50 years in the 20th century. The hotel closed in 2008 and the building was demolished in 2013.These plates are of great interest as excellent examples of the dinner plates used at the Warrnambool Criterion Hotel in the mid 20th century. The Criterion Hotel was a Warrnambool landmark for over 130 years.These are two white vitrified china plates. One is slightly smaller than the other but they are both dinner –plate size and made for hotel use. They are circular in shape with a wide outer band and the base or body of the plates slightly recessed. The name of the hotel is printed in red on the side of the plates in an oval decorative pattern. Details of the manufacturer and supplier are printed on the bottom of the plates. These town photos are part of a collection donated by Elaine Mann and Olive Codling. Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. These included the Horticultural Society, the Wodonga Arts Council, the Wodonga Camera Club and the Wodonga Lapidary Club.This photo collection is significant as it documents how the businesses and buildings in Wodonga have evolved and contributed to community throughout the 20th century.Wodonga Home Furnishers located beside the old railway crossing in High Street, Wodonga. Wodonga Home Furnishers was owned by Les Cheesely who was also a Councillor on Wodonga City Council from 1981 to 1994. The building was demolished in November 1998 to make way for the realignment of Elgin Street to join what was then Jack Hore Place. Erected in 1888 by Robert Milburn and family, the coffee palace on the corner of Mollison and Mitchell Streets was opposite the entrance to the railway station and as such provided ready access for travellers. Built at a cost of L4000, it consisted of 40 rooms that provided retail outlets and a ballroom on the ground floor and accommodation on the upper level. In 1945 it was converted to provided hostel accommodation for 43 student teachers.
