This file contains five items pertaining to plaques, memorials and monuments located in Glen Eira: 1/Three letters (1 page each) pertaining to a statue of Isabelle Webb adorning the Caulfield City Hall. The first letter, typewritten, dated 14/07/80, is addressed from J. Pollet, Honorary Secretary of the Caulfield Historical Society, to Mr. G. Calder, City Manager of Caulfield, and announces that the Society has identified the previously unidentified statue and wishes to provide a plaque for it. The second letter, handwritten, dated 20/09/1980, is addressed from Mr. R. Ballantyne of the Caulfield Historical Society to Calder, and laments that the Caulfield City Council has not responded to the first letter. The third letter, typewritten, dated 24/10/1980, is addressed from G. J. Walker, Deputy Manager-Administrator of the City of Caulfield, to Ballantyne, and notifies the latter of the Council’s acceptance of the Society’s offer to provide a plaque. Ballantyne, thanking the latter for agreeing to act as a recorder for the Project. The 2015 ANZAC Centenary Poppies community project was run by Glen Eira City Council, community artists and the Glen Eira community. Glen Eira Council encouraged community involvement by inviting the community to handmake poppies (knitted, crocheted, felted or crafted, no more than 15cm in diameter) to be included in a display in the Town Hall’s gallery from April the 8th. The Poppies Community Project Display will be held from 8th April - 17th May 2015 in the Gallery Annexe at Glen Eira Town Hall, with the hundreds of poppies arranged and linked by artist Emma Davies. The display was accompanied by a display of war memorabilia and artefacts, and visitors were invited to record their own dedication in a commemorative book.This large, black book is embossed with the square logo for the City of Glen Eira on the front. It contains tributes and dedications made by members of the community as part of the 2015 ANZAC Centenary Poppies community project under the headings "Date / Name / Dedication". The object also includes an unattached handwritten letter, and a handwritten label attached to one dedication. The dedication entries are dated from 10/04/2015 to 17/05/2015.

The City of Moorabbin Historical Society was formed c 1960 by a group of Moorabbin area residents who were concerned that the history of the area should be preserved. A good response to a call for items related to the historical area of Moorabbin Shire brought donations of a wide variety of artefacts which are now preserved by the current members of CMHS at Box Cottage Museum . Helen Stanley, Secretary of CMHS, began producing a Newsletter for members in April 2007 to provide current information and well researched items of historical interestHelen Stanley has produced a bi-monthly Newsletter, 2007 - 2013, for the members of the City of Moorabbin Historical Society that contains well researched interesting historical items, notification of upcoming events, current advice from Royal Australian Historical Society , Museums Australia Victoria and activities of Local Historical Societies. The Newsletter is an important record of the activities of the CMHS. 6 x A4 paper printed on 1 side Issue 25 of the bi-monthly, City of Moorabbin Historical Society Newsletter produced by Society member and Secretary, Mrs Helen Stanley in February 2012. 2 items about Hillcrest Estate and heritage: 1/A 20 page report giving draft heritage guidelines by the City of Glen Eira for properties within the Hillcrest Estate Heritage Area of Caulfield South, including Hillcrest Avenue numbers 1 and 3-12 and Marara Road numbers 27 and 28. The Heritage Area has been assessed as noteworthy as 'the first housing estate developed by the AV Jennings Construction Co., later known as Jennings Group Limited.' Developed during the Depression years of the early 1930s, it is considered an 'unusually intact example of an interwar garden estate' and is also considered noteworthy for its aesthetic values. The Report describes typical features for two house forms typical of the area: the single-storey villa with decorative porch and the single storey villa with decorative verandah. It gives guidelines on the types of changes which can be made to houses within the Heritage Area. Included are photographs of typical houses and design features, maps, and diagrams showing acceptable zones for additions, amongst other Sections (eg. The Caulfield Contact was the official newspaper of the City of Caulfield from 1976-1994. The City of Caulfield was the Municipal Council for an area of the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, including Brighton East, Carnegie, Caulfield, Elsternwick, Gardenvale, Glen Huntly, McKinnon, Murrumbeena, Ormond and St Kilda East. Following the amalgamation of City of Caulfield and parts of the City of Moorabbin in 1994, the municipality was renamed the City of Glen Eira.
