The sugar bowl is part of a larger dinner set which includes tea cups, saucers and dessert bowls. The set was specially made for the City of Caulfield council to be used during special events and official dinners and functions.The sugar bowl is from the first official dinner set specially made for and used by the City of Caulfield council during the late 20th century.The object is a hard, white, glossy ceramic sugar bowl with matching lid. It has a ring of gold lustre around the rim of the bowl and the edge of the handle of the lid.The body has "City of Caulfield" inscribed on the front underneath an image of the City of Caulfield crest. The Fashion & Design collection of the Kew Historical Society includes examples of women’s, men’s, children’s and infants’ clothing from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Items in the collection were largely produced for, or purchased by women in Melbourne, and includes examples of outerwear, protective wear, nightwear, underwear and costume accessories. This dress, made by Bow+Arrow, and donated by Annie McIntyre, is part of the McIntyre Collection.The McIntyre Collection of clothing and clothing accessories forms one of the largest single donations to our Fashion & Design collection. It includes clothing and clothing accessories worn by four women in the Cohen and McIntyre families across three generations. The items worn by Melbourne architect, and Kew resident, Dione McIntyre date from the 1960s and 1970s, and include evening wear, day wear, hats and shoes. As Dione McIntyre often accompanied her husband, fellow architect Peter McIntyre, to formal events, there are a number of pieces of evening wear among the items. The McIntyre Collection also includes items worn by women of an earlier generation: by Lilian Cohen, Dione McIntyre's mother, and by her mother-in-law, the wife of the architect Robert McIntyre. At the other end of the chronological spectrum are a number of outfits belonging to, worn and donated by Annie McIntyre. These include outfits created by notable late 20th century Australian and/or international fashion designers. The McIntyre Collection is significant historically and artistically as it includes examples of design that demonstrate changing tastes in fashion over an 80-year period. The collection is also significant in that it includes the work of a large number of Melbourne designers from the 1960s to the 1990s. These football boots belonged to Adrian Conway in the late 1940s. He was an actives sportsman in the Wodonga community including playing golf and football with the Wodonga Football club. Adrian was a son of Michael and Catherine Conway of Wodonga. He passed away in 2002. Polish-born designer David Waters first began producing swimwear in 1952. His mother Halina had recently opened a stall at Melbourne Queen Victoria Markets and was looking for swimsuits to sell; unable to find any she liked, she asked David to design something. He began making swimming costumes using his mother's sewing machine, in between his shifts working at a knitting factory. He had soon set up a small business in his parents' home, cutting patterns in one room while a machinist sewed them together in the next. His company, which he named Watersun, would become an iconic Australian swimwear label. During the early 1960s, Watersun developed its "Unquestionable Bra", an inbuilt moulded bra which was marketed as giving wearers a more natural bustline than other labels. The company was also known for its matching swimwear and beachwear, producing dresses, kaftans, tops and skirts in identical colours and prints to those used for many of its swimsuits. By 1967, the company was reportedly one of Australia's two biggest swimwear manufacturers, with over one hundred employees. Watersun was sold to Ada Productions in 1984 and was later acquired by Trackerjack Australasia. This swimsuit is believed to be one of a large quantity of samples, seconds and unsold Ada Productions stock donated to Brighton Historical Society in late 1990 by Brian Samuel, who worked at the company between 1979 and 1990.Two-piece swimsuit with navy blue and white horizontal stripes. This carriage forms part of a matching set of the W classification which were built to match each other around 1914Second class railway carriage red in colour with a white clerestory roof. It has 7 compartments each with two green vinyl bench seats. Pressed metal ceilings with a light in the centre and racks above the seats. There is a men's toilet at one end of the carriage and a ladies toilet at the other end, with a double seat outside both toilets as a waiting area. In these areas there are several Art Nouveau pressed metal panels. The outside of the carriage has the numbers 2 BW painted on the side.

This guards van is part of a set of matching carriages. The 1CW refers to it being a class leader or the first of that type ever built.Guards Van 1CW, steel sides painted red with a white clerestory roof, contains two compartments with a controllers section at each end of the carriage. Each compartment is made up of 3 hinged shelves, a desk with a set of shelves and pigeon holes above the desk. This brush & comb set was used by Mrs Rooks who lived in Mt. Beauty between 19 and 2 . It is typical of the sets that adorned dressing tables in the 1950s and 1960s. Could be part of a larger vanity set. Handle on brush indicates it is a ladies brush and not a mans. Today these types of items are becoming more collectible .Historic, & social asignificance. As it is the only one in our collection it also has good interpretive capacity as it shows the types dresser sets or vanity set used for womens personal attirement during the 1950's. Following the death of Hugh and Nell Ferguson, their families donated a number of items to the Kew Historical Society, including a French porcelain coffee set and a ceramic willow pattern dinner service. The latter was apparently bought piece by piece during the Great Depression. An item of historical interest donated by members of the Dods family in 2006. The Dods-Ferguson Collection includes a number of items once in the possession of the families related to or descended from two mayors of Kew: Cr. Hugh Ferguson and Cr.
