The National Wool Museum accepted a donation from Brian Licence in 2022 of several mementoes relating to his career in the wool industry. Brian studied Wool Classing and worked for a decade in this profession before moving to Melbourne which required him to change careers. These Wool Classing Clip Reports date from 1965 to 1966, there are 7 total. The reports give feedback to the wool classer about their clips recently classed. They include some suggestions as to how a wool classer may improve their performance, and how a wool grower may be able to increase profits from their flock.8 sheets of paper, slightly under a4 size at 260 x 205 mm. 4 sheets have a header from Elder Smith Goldsbrough Mort Limited, 2 from Bennett & Fisher Limited, and 1 from Roberts, Stewart & Company Limited. All Wool Classing Clip Reports have the same structure, a header from the sending company, a body paragraph of black ink from a typewriter, concluding with a signature at the bottom of the page. At Lazarus - Bailed 4,828 tanks. At New Chum Railway - Cleaned and tested boilers and flues, effected repairs to machinery and shaft, and started bailing at 3 pm on Friday 29th inst, and bailed 965 tanks. Bendig Advertiser 3/8/1910 Page 2 Mining Intelligence. (2) New Chum Mines - Better progress is now being made in lowering the water in the deep level workings at the New Chum Mines. At the Victoria Quartz, the water which on Monday stood at 3073feet, has been lowered 70 feet during the past four days. The pumping service at the New Chum Railway was in operation yesterday, and the winding plant is fully occupied. Report - set of seven bound volumes titled "Report of the Chief Engineer on his tour of America and Europe 1957". Each volume, contains foolscap stencil duplicated sheets with some folded drawings and many pages of photographs. Each volume has a printed title sheet, table of contents bound with glue end sheets into a green and black leather hard cover. Each set of sheets have been sewn into the volume with cut sheets to allow for folded drawings and photographs. Each volume has the MMTB name, logo and report title in gold block on the front and on the spine. For those interested in the history of Melbourne Legacy this book is a must read. Filled full of larger than life characters and the good will of many volunteers and benefactors of Legacy. The book should be read in conjunction with Part Two (item 00365). These type written sheets were set in order and put together by some members of The Advisory, History And Tradition Committee (Melbourne Legacy).Significant in that this is a scholarly attempt at recording the early history (1932-1944) of Melbourne Legacy. These were the years of the Great Depression and World War 2, hence shortages of all manner of things.
