The description outlines the the Kokoda Campaign from July 1942 to November 1942. The track is 96 K’s or then it was 60 miles over the Owen Stanley Ranges in New Guinea. Australian casualties were 625 KIA, 1600 WIA and a huge 4,000 casualties due to illness. Over the years there has been many discussions as to whether it is a “trail” or a”track”. The Rats of Tobruk Association, Inc, Victoria was formed in September, 1945. The Association was open for those Servicemen who had Served at, and during, the Longest Siege in British Military History - the Siege of Tobruk - 240 Days, between April10th and December 10th 1941 in WW2 and who were fortunate enough to return to Australia at the end of hostilities. Of approximately 14,000 Australians involved in the Siege of Tobruk, 559 were KIA, 2450 were WIA and 941 became a POW. Brown wooden lacquered shield with the Rats of Tobruk Association symbol (brown rat on gold circle with white ad gold scrolls surrounding with the name of the association printed upon) overlaying a yellow T below a crown. William Frank Rouden Budge "ED"No VX48105 enlisted in the 2nd AIF on 23.7.40. He served in the Seige of Tobruk and El Alamein where he was the Commanding Officer of his Battalion during its early days. He was WIA twice , at Tobruk then Alamein losing his left leg. At discharge from the Army on 7.1.47 he was a Major in 2/24th Aust Infantry Battalion. Embarked for Eygpt 28.6.1915, embark for Gallipoli 29.8.1915, embark for France 26.3.1916, WIA 31.7.1916 GSW to right shoulder and head severe, embark for Australia 13.2.1917 for 3 months change but was discharged medically unfit on 1.6.1917. A typying error on one post card states 10th reinforcements, 1st reinforcements as per his enlistment papers.Two post cards on an A4 size paper attached Via photo corners.
