The description outlines the the Kokoda Campaign from July 1942 to November 1942. The track is 96 K’s or then it was 60 miles over the Owen Stanley Ranges in New Guinea. Australian casualties were 625 KIA, 1600 WIA and a huge 4,000 casualties due to illness. Over the years there has been many discussions as to whether it is a “trail” or a”track”. The Rats of Tobruk Association, Inc, Victoria was formed in September, 1945. The Association was open for those Servicemen who had Served at, and during, the Longest Siege in British Military History - the Siege of Tobruk - 240 Days, between April10th and December 10th 1941 in WW2 and who were fortunate enough to return to Australia at the end of hostilities. Of approximately 14,000 Australians involved in the Siege of Tobruk, 559 were KIA, 2450 were WIA and 941 became a POW. Brown wooden lacquered shield with the Rats of Tobruk Association symbol (brown rat on gold circle with white ad gold scrolls surrounding with the name of the association printed upon) overlaying a yellow T below a crown. Robert Charles NORMAN No 1560 enlisted in the AIF in 1st reinforcements 21st Batt on 10.4.1915 age 24 years 6 months. Embarked for Eygpt 28.6.1915, embark for Gallipoli 29.8.1915, embark for France 26.3.1916, WIA 31.7.1916 GSW to right shoulder and head severe, embark for Australia 13.2.1917 for 3 months change but was discharged medically unfit on 1.6.1917. A typying error on one post card states 10th reinforcements, 1st reinforcements as per his enlistment papers.Two post cards on an A4 size paper attached Via photo corners. Thomas William Tuckerman enlisted on 16.4.17 in the Australian Tunnelling Coy reinforcements age 38 years. A Miner at 5 feet 2 and a half inches tall. Embarked for England 4.8.17, hospital on 1.11.17 with scabies, embark for France 14.11.17, transfer to 2nd Aust Tunneling Coy 28.7.18, WIA on 30.9.18 GSW to leg. Discharged from the AIF on 4.5.19. He was also entitled to the War medal 1914-19. Hugh McColl. Hugh had pre war service in the local Bendigo 67th BN and reached the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Albert Jacka No 465 enlisted in D Coy 14th batt AIF on 18.9.14. Embarked for Eygpt 22.12.14. He rose through the ranks from Pte to Captain by 15.3.17. He was WIA 3 times and hospitalised twice with illness. Awarded the Victoria Cross at Courtney's Post 19/20th May 1915. The Military Cross at Pozieres on 7.8.16 and a Bar to the Military Cross on 10.4.17 near Queant. He was discharged from the AIF on 10.1.20. This is a very brief history of "Jacka".
