This unique document was produced in honour of Dr William (Bill) Alexander Sloss, Patron of Sloss House, Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies' College, on his birthday 5 August 1962. It features a handwritten dedication in coloured ink, black and white photograph of Dr Sloss, Dr Sloss' own 10 page history of the school and 3 pages of signatures from the 1962 members of council, members of staff and school prefects. The book has been bound by local printing company Waller & Chester but all pages have been produced by hand. It is a significant record of the esteem and appreciation in which Dr Sloss was held by the school community. Dr Sloss served on the school council 1919-1966. His daughter-in-law, wife of Bill Sloss (Old Collegian 1921-1934) Janie also served 1956-1964 and again 1969-1973 and on the Ballarat Clarendon College council in 1974. Dr Sloss was instrumental in the purchase of Clarendon Ladies College by the local Presbyterian community in 1919 and the opening, by Governor General Stonehaven, and ongoing establishment of the Mair Street site in 1925. He was instrumental in the appointment of seven Principals - Carson, Short, Shaw, McDonald, Mathieson, Kerr and McPherson. His contribution to education in Ballarat for nearly 50 years is inestimable. The book is accompanied by a black and white photograph labelled 'Clarendon College Sports', undated. This unique book is a significant record of social significance.Black leather bound book of 18 pages, including 2 illustrations pasted in place, 10 typewritten pages and 3 pages of signatures. The book is accompanied by a 4x6 landscape black and white photograph. The disc belonged to Thomas William Tuckerman, No 7318, 2nd Australian Tunneling Company AIF. He enlisted on 16.4 1917 aged 38 years, embarked on 4.8.1917. W.J.C.Harder, No 2096 enlisted 27.6.1916 age 19 years in the 3rd reinforcements 38th Bn AIF, embarked for England 25.8.1916, embark for France 20.12.1916, WIA 14.4.1917 GSW to back, rejoin unit 24.4.1917, transfer to 10th L.T.Mortar Battery 15.6.1917, hospital 3 days with diarrhoea then later 4 days with Debility, transfer back to 38th Bn 29.8.1917 and a month later detached to 10 L.T.M.Battery again, killed accidentally 24.2.1918. A report stated that on 24.2.1918 at 2 pm he was No 3 on a gun in the Warneton sector when a premature explosion in the barrel on the 26th shell killed him instantly. John Ettershank of Ballarat purchased land for Ninety-three pounds, two shillings and four pence. This was ten acres, two roods and thirteen perches in the County of Ripon Parish of Burrumbeet. The land sold at Ballarat as Lot No 37. Full license and authority to enter and occupy Crown Land outlined was given to James Cowan. This was for a period of three years and subjected to conditions outlined on the document. The area was in the County of Bourke, Parish of Blackwood. The area concerned is located on the Lerderderg River in the Wombat State Forest. The fee for occupation was to be paid in advance by half-yearly payments to the Land Officer at Ballarat. Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. Items souvenired by Wayne William Forbes No 3176337 RAE. Refer Cat No 754 for service history also 2586. Part of an extensive collection including his fathers. The MPC was used in US and Australian bases and was not used in the general Vietnamese community. This was so US Dollars could not make their way into the black market etc. Every few months the MPC was renewed, differant styles, colours etc and old notes were handed in and new ones issued..1) A4 white sheet with 5 Military Payment Currency notes attached via photo corners. The notes are US Military showing 25 cent, 10 cent, & 5 cent. A typed write up is attached to the RHS detailing the reason for & the use of the notes.
