Provides a detailed specification of materials to be supplied and the works to be performed for the construction of the Kew Horse Tramway between Victoria Bridge and the Kew Cemetery. Has a schedule of rates. Details materials to be supplied by the contractor. Note it is headed "City of Melbourne Tramways". The Kew Horse Tramway was opened 28-12-1887. It was built by the Melbourne Tramways Trust and operated by the cable tram operator, Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Co. The strip for the advert racks on the sides of the trams has been installed. In front of the tram is a remnant of cable tram track in wood blocks. The tram showing route 59, Essendon Aerodrome, has trolley wheels and has a second person in the cab, possibly a trainer. Unusually the tram number is placed above the headlight, In the background are the palm trees in the centre median plantation. Series of letters between Frank Shennen, Managing Editor of the Transportation Magazine of Sydney and Lewis Russell regarding cable trams. This information may have formed the basis of an article, "Salute to the Cable Tram" that appeared in the July 1948 issue of Truck and Bus Transportation - see Reg Item 2578. Map, Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), Set of 15 tram route maps, 1977 to 1979
Series of 15 colour route maps for various tram lines or groups of tram lines for the MMTB. Some have the Transport Information Centre telephone printed on them, others have a label stuck on. Some are finished with a plastic laminate finish on either one or both sides. Show the major cross streets, parks, schools, other tram routes, major stop numbers and railway lines.
