This item came from the Library at the Mount Helen Campus. Due to the size of the stamp and the date section, it is thought to be the stamp used for in-ward mail. The original tennis court at Lake Bolac in 1895 was located at the Recreation Reserve behind the linear development along the main road. This was a grass court, lines were clearly painted and the tennis-net was a chicken-wire fence. The church was opened in 1947. Andrew Ward wrote a history of it in 1987. Title: " St Theodore's Anglican Church Wattle Park - A History of a Small Parish: 1947-1987." The Bell was presented to the Mission by the Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line in October 1957, after the ship made her final voyage to Australia in 1956 and it was broken up in Barrow in April 1957 by Thomas W Ward (UK). In the Annual Report 1957, Padre Oliver mentioned "the bell was found unsuited for the chapel belfry, it is to be mounted on a bracket and placed in the Celia Little lounge."Cast brass bell with wrought iron anchor and hook design wall mount: decoratively plaited cord in maritime knot pattern to resemble chain, sealed with a varnish and attached to cast iron clapper. This book was given in 1886 as a prize to Annie Egerton from Allansford State School. The prize was for recitation. Allansford State School No. 3 was opened in 1856 as a National School and is still operating. Allansford is about ten kilometres from the Warrnambool city area and most of it today is within the boundaries of the City of Warrnambool. John Jones was the Head Master of the school from 1867 to 1891. No details have been found on Annie Egerton or her family This book is of interest because it concerns 19th century Allansford State School, Head Master John Jones and pupil Annie Egerton. It is also a book of antiquarian interest. This is a hard cover book of 436 pages. It has a green cover with gold and black ornamentation and black and green lettering. The pages are edged with gold colouring. The book has 36 chapters telling the story of the merchant, James Meetwell and some pages at the back giving details of other books available from the publishers, Ward, Lock & Co. The cover is somewhat soiled. There is an inscription inside the front cover with handwriting in black ink and the word ‘Reciting’ written in pencil on the second page. ‘Allansford S. The "Q" Theatre Guild was formed out of the Kew Light Opera Company in 1957. It marked the transition of the company that had initially been directed by Lance Nicholls to one directed by Beatrice Oakley. It continued to perform in the Kew Recreation Hall, but, with its demolition in 1960, and the opening of the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road, moved its productions to that venue. Productions of the "Q" Theatre Guild included The Geisha (1957), Maritana (1958), They All Do It (1959), Blossom Time (1959), Love's A Luxury (1959), There And Back & The Bohemian Girl (1960), Die Fledermaus (1960), Gay Rosalinda (1961), The Land Of Smiles (1961), Kisses For A Kid & Hansel And Gretel (1961), Die Fledermaus (1962), Monsieur Beaucaire (1964), Macbeath or The Beggar's Opera, and So To Bed.The scrapbook of annotated photographs, programmes, and newspaper reviews of which this item is a part was assembled by Marion Tilley, wardrobe mistress for, and performer in, productions by the Kew Light Opera Company and the "Q" Theatre Guild. It is significant as a remarkably complete document of theatre performances in Kew, Victoria during the 1950s and 1960s. The scrapbook, and the items individually catalogued within it, have artistic and aesthetic significance within the history of performing arts in Victoria in the middle of the 20th Century. They have social significance in that they reveal socio-cultural values and preoccupations during the period. The records also act as a history of arts activities in the Kew Recreation Hall and later in the Kew City Hall as entertainment and community arts and music precincts.Sepia-toned photograph of a group of performers and organisers in the "Q" Theatre Guild's performances of Gay Rosalinda, an arrangement of Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus. This bassinet was used for new born babies at the first Orbost Hospital. It would have been used before 1961 as in August 1961, the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Orbost Hospital bought ten new chrome plated cribs for the hospital nursery. These new cribs were on wheels and could easily be taken to the wards. (ref. Orbost Hospital History, Personalities and Stories by Margaret Hollands)The Orbost Hospital was completed by the end of October 1929 after more than twenty years of agitation and preparation. Orbost is an isolated town and the importance of the medical service in the community is immense. Records of members of the Ashley family. Stanley Edgar Ashley married Vera Ama Gravenall in 1939. They lived in Williams Street Greensborough, and Stan had a men's wear and drapery store in Main Street Greensborough. He was elected to Council for the North Ward of the City of Heidelberg in August 1954, and died in December 2002.
