The Carving was created by an artist in residence at the Bendigo Psychiatric Centre ( Golden City Support Services) prior to closure. It is approximately 2.00 metres high and 1.20metre wide. Both these ribbons have been produced to celebrate anniversaries of two Warrnambool State Schools. Allansford State School celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 1981. This school was opened in 1855 as a National School and is still operating. It has the distinction of being State School No. 3 in Victoria. Warrnambool State School celebrated its centenary in 1976. The collection of artefacts formely belonged to the writers father, J.M. Marshall of Sturt Street. He was born and lived in Ballarat most of his life, and was interested in the Ballarat School of Mines Museum during the era of Professor Alfred Mica Smith. The response to this letter foreshadows the closure of the Ballarat School of Mines Museum. Alan Sonsee of the Ballarat Teachers' College was a Field Naturalist and collector of Aboriginal artefacts, and may have been associated with the decision. Handwritten letter from Jessie Marshall of Adelaide offering a collection of Australian "Native Weapons and Curios" to the Ballarat School of Mines Museum. The writer describes the collection as "not a large collection but a very good one - there are also some lovely shells." Ballarat School of Mines Registrar, F.E. In the 1950s there was a move to bring some light industries into Sunbury. The large building in Barkly Street, which was used to make gloves and other items of clothing was taken over by the Yakka Company and boys shorts were made there. In the 1960s the Yakka Company moved to new and larger premises in Broadmeadows resulting of the closure of the Sunbury factory.
