Cato Park Plaque. The information on the plaque states the name change from Victoria Reserve to Cato Park in 1930. Victoria Reserve was gazette in c 1914 then had a name change in 1930 to Cato park. The Park renamed after Frederick J. Cato in contribution to his generosity to the Stawell community. Trowel was presented to Captain Spark by honourable secretary Mr Charles Dyte on 1/1/1864 to lay the foundation stone of the watchtower and belfrey of the Ballarat fire station. In May 2016 the Nillumbik Historical Society invited Greensborough Historical Society to visit its historical centre at Ellis Cottage in Diamond Creek. Ellis Cottage was built in 1865 and is made of local uncut stone. The cottage is a typical farmers residence of this period. The stone construction is unique in this district as most construction is weatherboard. Michael Gabriel Giudice (1882-8/12/1947) was the son of Baptista and Rosa (nee Lang). In 1907 he married Beatrice Annie Harvey. Michael is listed as an agent and in 1931 is living at 451 Hargreaves St., Bendigo with his wife Beatrice.Black and white photograph mounted on rectangular grey board. House, brick with pale brick quions at corners and around windows, corrugated iron roof, verandah with very ornate cast iron balustrade and frieze, decorative gable with circular vent, stone steps to verandah. The Album was compiled by Nancy McHaffie late 1990's, with the assistance of Edith Jeffery's, with her book "Garden of Memories" and extensive knowledge of Phillip Island. The Cemetery lies back from the road and is surrounded by Manna Gums, rare Peppermint Gums, Blackwoods and other native trees. In all 25 acres of land were set aside as Crown Land in the land settlement of 1868. There are 6.2 acres of wetlands near the cemetery entrance.a) Grave stone of Eliza Coghlan b) Grave stone of Eliza Coghlan with Edith Jeffery standing beside. Eliza was born in West Heath, Ireland. She arrived in Australia on the immigrant ship "Thomas Arbuthnot". She came to Phillip Island as house-keeper to James Duffus and served for 40 years. She was often seen walking to Cowes, about five miles, carrying a heavy turkey. The main road to the cemetery was named in her honour.
