Model of a Bendigo Birney tram prior to the painting of the safety stripes by the SEC during the 1960s. Not fitted with a trolley pole. The sheet gives the story of the tram in Adelaide and Bendigo and colour schemes. The Tenshodo bogie would have enabled the tram to be motorised. Made by John Eastaff Model (JEM) of Adelaide.Demonstrates an model kit that represented the Bendigo Birney trams.Model of Bendigo Birney tram by JEM Models, comprising cardboard box, cast metal parts and instructions. Set of two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 19/8/1971; two letters to the Editor, about the closure of the Ballarat tramways, that some of the trams and line should be saved and what the aims of the BTPS are. The first from a person titled "All Het Up", and the second from John Anderson of P.O. Box 145 Box Hill. The second clipping from The Sun, Melbourne dated 14/7/1971 written by Keith Dunstan in his column, "A Place in the Sun" about the forthcoming closure of the Ballarat and Bendigo systems. Has a photo of a Bendigo Birney tram and notes their rarity. The second part is about the formation of the BTPS, which has 100 paid up members and quotes Shane McCarthy, a committeeman. Both cuttings in two portions.In red ink in lower edge of first cutting "19/8/71". On sheet of paper, various pencil / ink markings - with date Dec. 1963. The last three years of operational statistics have been filled in by hand. Probably prepared late 1960's by Les Denmead (assumption here - See Reg item 3289 and 3483 for Bendigo version)Yields historical notes and statistics on the Geelong Tramway system - the statistical information being the most important. ... with the tours to mark the closure of the Bendigo Tramway system ...Has a strong association with the tours to mark the closure of the Bendigo Tramway system and Graeme Breydon.Edmondson pasteboard railway ticket, No. 0085, dated 12 Feb. 1972, for use on an ARHS tour to Farewell Bendigo prior to the closure of the system. Ticket base is pink with a thick purple stripe, which is printed in landscape format. Ticket number in reverse. Adult - Economy, available on the day of travel only and on the special train. On the rear of the ticket is the reserved seat and carriage number. Ticket used by Graeme Breydon on the day of the tour. See History of the Object for further details.
