Mr Clyde used this waybill booklet to record the details of wool bales which he sold through Goldsbrough Mort. Mr CLyde would use this booklet to record the details of the wool bales which he sold through Goldsbrough Mort. Envelope was part of a larger donation by Mrs Robyn Adams and was addressed to her father Victor Clyde. Envelope contained books from various years. Envelope is from c1940-1969, most likley the latter. Mostl likely associated with way bill books on which wool clip details were recorded.Dark cream coloured envelope, bound on left short end, torn open at right torn end with piece loose. White/off-white colour with dark blue text. Heading at the top reads -GOLDSBROUGH MORT / AND COMPANY LIMITED-. Text at the bottom of the page reads -WOOL HAND-BOOKS and / WAYBILLS-. Inside front cover and first two pags are notes on how to use the book and how to prepare a wool bale for transport. Booklet is made up of pages with carbon paper copying, removable sheets upon which bale details can be described, coloured yellow and blue. First yellow page has been filled in by owner. Inside back cover has list of things not to do when using booklet. Part of a collection of items donated by Mrs Robyn Adams. Mrs Adams' father, Victor Clyde, was a wool grower who owned and used all of the items donated.Light pale blue/green lined paper page. Top part of page has typed black ink describing instructions on how to fill in lined section below, beneath headings reading -GOLSBROUGH, MORT & COMPANY LTD, MELBOUNRE- and -OWNER'S OR CLASSER'S SPECIFICATION OF WOOL CLIP-. Lower two-thirds of page is bordered with pink lines and split into six coloumns under headings. Fields can be filled in with information about wool lip/size/wiehgt/quality/bale stencil number/etc. Reverse of page is the same. Page has one vertical fold line in the centre and three horizontal fold lines. From the collection of a family who had three generations that worked for Dennys Lascelles. This is a catalogue describing the Mossgiel estate for an upcoming auction which was going to be held through the Dennys Lascelles Company. Mossgiel was built for or owned by Brigadier-General Robert Smith, who (I believe) was the founder of the Returned Soldiers & Sailors Mill in Newtown.Cream/pale yellow coloured paper booklet with maroon/brown text and border on front page, "Mossgiel" text in centre. 6 pages, bound with two metal staples on spine. W. Membrey Blacksmith Shop in Patrick Street beside the sale yards which later became the Technical School Gold Reef Campus. W. Membrey died when young leaving a large family. The business was then rented to Mr. G. Brehaut for 12/6 (twelve shillings six pence) per week. The Membrey family lived in Skene St. Stawell for many years. Notes record that a copy was make by Mark Dadswell, Stawell. Also the notes record in 1996 a copy was made and donated to the Society by Melbourne Museum. 76.1 - V.W. Membrey blacksmith at Marnoo. Donated by Alan Membrey June 2003 Beecroft, NSW.Sepia photograph depicting W. Membrey Black Smith shop. Standing in front of the wooden building are 10 men and 3 young boys. W. Membrey is holding a horse in the door way with 2 other horses either side of the building. A timber cart is to the left of the photograph. W. Membrey Black Smith is written on the front of the building W. Membrey General Smith & Farrier is on the side of the building. There are 3 copies or duplicates of the original photo, one small and 2 large. The second black and white photo (76.1) is of V.W. Membrey Blacksmith & Horseshoer. Three people are standing outside the door to the shed. Written on the back is "Marnoo". Photo donated by Alan Membrey NSW. This two story building was once The Victoria Bank, in Main Street Stawell later other businesses. Photo taken in 1991. The building now restored, and the home of Ron & Trudy Smith, who conduct a book exchange.Two black and white photographs of a two story brick building once The Victoria Bank and later a Book exchange. Doorways and windows on the ground floor have similar arch designs. The three top windows are rectangular in shape with a parapet on top of the building. One photo is a closer view of the building than the other. The photos may have been taken at different times as the window curtains appear different.stawell -

Bill Smith & Ray Membrey both aged 93 on visit to Stawell Historical Society Sept 1989. Photograph taken in Stawell's old Court house. Ray Membrey is on the left in the photograph with Bill Smith, both 93 years old. These gentlemen made a visit to Stawell in September before enlisting as service men in the first World War. Ray's family lived in Skene Street Stawell. Ray's father had a blacksmith business in Patrick St. Stawell. Bill's family lived for some time at the Pleasant Creek Court House. c 1912 -20. Bills father was a Carpender. Article attached to the back of the photo is from The Stawell Times News Friday, September 1, 1989.
