The story is written by Ingrid Stephen, daughter of Hans Barth who was an internee in camp 1 during WW2. She wrote the story for her children as part of their knowledge and heritage, the history of how and why she arrived in Australia and her life in this wonderful country which has been so good to her and her family. This brooch is small and tasteful and the ‘forget-me -not’ wording in the centre probably indicates that it was given by someone to a loved one as a token of love or friendship. It was most likely pinned to the collar of a blouse at the neckline or to a jacket lapel. These are two vintage small cups, probably dating from early in the 20th century. They may have originally had saucers to match. Both cups have different inscriptions, and were likely given as a present to indicate friendship or love and other examples of the same type of cup have similar inscriptions such as 'Remember me' and 'Forget-Me-Not'.
