This scrapbook features newspaper cuttings about the Western District Dance Academy ( also called a Dance Club). The Academy appears to have operated from the late 1960s to 1982 and two teachers named in the scrapbook were David and Audrey Nunn. There is reference also to the Warrnambool Dancing Studio, the East Warrnambool School of Dancing and the Y.M.C.A. Dance Club. Most of the cuttings are not dated but appear to be from the 1970s.This scrapbook is of interest as a memento of a dance club that operated in the Warrnambool district forty to fifty years ago.This is a scrapbook with a green cover with black printing and black and white images. The front page has a cut-out of a dancing couple with the figures coloured in and and glitter and cotton material added for the lady's dress. Note from Frances Warren. 'The Dance Card really belonged to George, I think perhaps he did try to learn to dance. Didn't like it very much. Probably about 1935. We didn't have dance cards we just knew the dances and the sets and the Alberts were great fun. With the sets you had to swing and change your partners. If the partners were tall they just had to lift their arms a bit and you were off your feet and around you would go.
