Maastricht, Holland, was the city where Petrus Regout established the De Sphinx pottery in 1836. De Sphinx operated under the name Petrus Regout & Co. until 1899. The firm was noted for its transfer-printed earthenware. Many factories in Maastricht are still making ceramics. The plate was created to celebrate the silver jubilee of Queen Wilhelmina in 1923.A ceramic plate decorated in blue with pictures and words. Central to the image is a coat of arms featuring a central lion and 4 identical hunting horns. The whole is surmounted by a crown. The rim is decorated with orange blossoms.The words read: "Mijn schilt en de betrouwen Syt Ghy O God myn Heer. Op U soo wil ick bouwen Verlaat my nimmermeer." These are words from the second verse of the National Anthem recorded in Old Dutch. The dates 1898-1923 also feature on the front of the plate. The back bears the maker's stamp, an imprint of a small arrow, an imprint of ¾ and the words "Made in Holland". The maker's stamp reads: "Petrus Regout & Co Maastricht". It is surmounted by a sphinx. There are also two holes in the rim to enable hanging of the plate. -

Butz-Choquin is a French pipe maker founded in 1858 by tobacconist Jean-baptiste Choquin and Gustave Butz.The company was established in Metz; it remained there until 1951, when it was purchased by the Berrod-Regad company. It was then relocated to Saint-Claude, Jura. The company was acquired by Denis Blanc in 2006. The Blue Room is a Showtune written by Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) for the musical "The Girl Friend" with lyrics by Lorenz Hart. The New York American reviewer at the time of the release of the musical in 1926 wrote "There was a ditty called 'The Blue Room' which should be sung to exhaustion". The piece has become a well known jazz standard and has been released by many artists over the past century. This boat hook head is in very good condition and has been manufactured. It would be attached to a pole or handle to give it a long reach. A boat hook is a common piece of marine equipment and many have been made by boat owners to suit their own purpose. They would also have been forged byblacksmiths and shipsmiths and have been available from ship's chandlers over the centuries. A boat hook can be used for many situations such as catching mooring ropes and chains, reaching rigging, pulling things or people out of the water, and a variety of fishing applications.This boat hook head is an example of equipment carried on vessels over hundreds of years for safety purposes and for general applications. Marine boat hook head, all brass. The body is a conical shape with a pointed end and curved, horn-shaped hook moulded into the side. The body is hollow until it reaches the hook's height. RVB Limited is now called Sirens and Horns and is still manufacturing sirens in Australia. A hand siren with an L shaped handle two centimetres wide and five centimetres long is attached to the base of a metal cylinder ten centimetres diameter and six centimetres long with the last two centimetres tapering to a six centimetre diameter opening which flares to a 12 centimetre opening in four centimetres. The handle is connected to a thin metal disc which vibrates when the handle is turned making a loud noise. The siren is attached to a wooden handle four centimetres by two centimetres and 21 centimetres long. It is all painted red.
