Black and white (in cardboard) photograph of early Huntly bus. James Lerk 'A Cobb & Co coach body mounted on a motor truck, to serve as the Huntly to Bendigo bus. Photographed by Bartlett Bros'. Male passengers wearing suits, collars and ties, hats. Photocopy of reverse inscription, dated Bendigo Oct 1st 1926, reads - ' This picture represents an old Cobb & Co's coach. It is over sixty years old, and ran from Castlemaine to Swan Hill in the old coaching days, and afterwards ran from Bendigo to Inglewood. It was owned by Mr Shadbolt, and was purchased from him by Mr Bannerman of Huntly near Bendigo, who had the undercarriage taken off and the body placed on a motor chassis. It now runs between Bendigo and Huntly as a daily motor transport. It has never been painted since it was made.' See Research. Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. These included the Horticultural Society, the Wodonga Arts Council, the Wodonga Camera Club and the Wodonga Lapidary Club. This photo collection is significant as it documents how the businesses and buildings in Wodonga have evolved and contributed to community throughout the 20th century.Wodonga, High Street West Businesses include Mylon Motorways and Pilkington shoes. 153 High Street, Wodonga in 2021is now the location of Gateway Health and other allied Health Services. In 1906 Patrick Mylon started a passenger transport service in the Albury-Wodonga border area with horses and cabs. His son Jack went into business in the late 1920s, and his grandson Bernie joined the firm early in 1970. When Patrick started with the horses and cabs, each cab carried eight passengers and he always had two horses per cab. As the business expanded, Mylons used a range of buses and coaches including Reo, Chev and Bedford vehicles. During more than 100 years if service to the Wodonga region and beyond, Mylon Motorways received many awards for Excellence and tourism. On July 2, 2008 the company, including its 31 buses and 45 staff members were transferred to the Dyson Group. Set of three MMTB or MTA single journey tickets - available on travel on metro train services. .1 - MTA Single Journey ticket - available on tram and bus only, printed on pink card - A280294 with conditions of travel on rear. .2 - MMTB single journey ticket - dated 6/5/81, No. 23543, printed on pink card with conditions of travel on rear. Has section numbers on sides. .3 - Restricted Weekday Ticket or Voucher, Nos. A155134, printed in red on manila coloured card. Was available for a single journey on any MMTB tram and bus and allowed a ticket to be obtained at any station for a single VicRail, metro journey. Part of a longer strip of tickets. The timeline gives the date of closure as Saturday 13/3/1937. Notes one of the Gripmen was a Mr. J. Armstrong. Functional object - Run Number Plate, Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), Malvern M74, 1960's to 1970's

Buses ...Pressed metal plate with corners trimmed and rounded, top section partly folded with two slotted holes, four with sides folded to give strengthening to the plate, painted with a white background and the letter "M" and numbers painted in red, to give a Run Number Plate for Malvern Depot. Painted with the same detail on either side of the plate. Used by Malvern Depot until they were phased out and replaced with the Automatic Vehicle Monitoring system c1990. Used to identify the depot and "run number" or timetable that the tram was running on, two in each tram, to enable monitoring by inspectors and crews. Also gives information about the Councils view of the level crossing itself.Photocopy, of an item in the Ballarat Courier, 5/5/1951 titled "Train Astride Crossing Trams Delayed Hour", following the delay in the crossing when a rail broke under a goods train. Held up trams and others for about an hour and half. Notes the SEC used a replacement bus service. Gave the City of Ballaarat space to complain about the crossing and its need to be replaced.
